For the 25th year, the sights and sounds of Christmas will beseen and heard on Main Street in Olde Springboro Nov. 18-20.It is the silver anniversary of the Christmas In Historic
Springboro festival. And as in years past, Main Street will belined with all the yuletide spirit of the season.
The festival has been recognized as the largest three-day festi-vals in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The annual festival attractsmore than 50,000 people, who have enjoyed the entertainment,tasted the variety of food available and purchased many itemsfrom vendors participating in the event.The theme of this year’s festival is “Santa’s Silver Celebration”
in honor of the event’s 25-year history.

Joe Miko, Jr., a resident ofSpringboro for more than 20years, was inducted into theKiser High School Athletic Hallof Fame.The KHS Athletic Hall of
Fame Committee was estab-lished by the Kiser High SchoolAlumni Association on Feb.23, 2009. Its purpose is
twofold: to identify and honorthose KHS alumni and/or coach-
es who brought fame, honor and glory to themselves andfavorable recognition to their Alma Mater, and to bestowformal recognition upon those persons selected.On Oct. 16, the third annual Kiser High School Athletic
hall of Fame induction ceremony and dinner took placeat the Celebrations Banquet Hall in Dayton.Joe Miko, Jr. was one of 10 inducted.As a standout football player at Kiser, Joe Miko (Class of
1961) only knew one way to play: He played HARD ALLTHE TIME!!This approach of never letting up even in practice
earned him the respect of his coaches and shocked andsurprised his teammates.

The Springboro High Schoolbaseball team could help you tosit pretty inside a 2012 FordMustang.The team is selling tickets for a
chance to win the new vehicle tohelp raise funds for its springbreak trip to Florida.Tickets are $20 each. Only 2,000
tickets will be sold.If less than 1,500 tickets are
sold, the contest will become a50/50 cash pot.The drawing will be held at the
Dec. 9 Springboro Varsity boysbasketball game.Players and parents will be sell-
ing raffle tickets as well as yo-yoballoons at Christmas inSpringboro, Nov. 18-20. Tickets canalso be purchased from any juniorvarsity or varsity baseball player.The baseball team will be trav-
eling to Florida for spring breakfor the first time in three years.Both the junior varsity and varsi-ty teams will be playing fourgames against teams from all overthe country at the Wide World ofSports facility at Disney World.“This is a great opportunity for
our teams to get in some strongcompetition before we begin ourregular season here. We’re veryexcited about the developmentopportunity for the players,” saysMark Pelfrey, Springboro’s varsi-ty baseball coach.Other fund raisers the team has
undertaken were a chicken din-ner before a football game, bag-ging groceries at Cub Foods, anda rummage sale.In addition, they have an ongo-
ing recycling fundraiser, collect-ing used electronic equipmentincluding cell phones, cameras,computers and ink cartridges.For more information on the

competition at CentralState University inJanuary are the Mops, theM i a m i s b u r gMindstormers, the CookiePirates from Carlisle andthe champions of theSpringboro regional, theContamination Hotshots.A total of 12 teams com-
peted in the event, includ-ing two teams fromSpringboro — The UnitedNerds of America andTeam B.R.I.C.K.S.The 12 teams, located
from school districtsthroughout the Daytonarea and western Ohio,earned the right to com-pete in the regionalevent after each builtand programmed LegoMindstorms robots.After building the
robots, they were pro-grammed to negotiateand accomplish various
