Biggie Smalls, Genre-Hip Hop – The photo has been edited in black and white and has a rugged edge to show how old it is and biggies black outfit connotes evil, danger and shows he is a bad man gangster. The Blunt he is smoking also depicts his gangster image as an American drug smoking, gun wielding gang member.

Whitechapel- Death Metal- The morbid, even suicidal expressions and Black clothing connote death, evil and depression. The background is bleak and depressing with no bright colours only browns, greys and whites etc. The decaying wreckage next to them depicts death and misery. The white sky is dominant yet still dull and contrasts to the band members.

The raconteurs- Alternative- The smart suits and expressions show they are serious about their music. The dull dark colours give a negative mood but the navy and red from the two American flags stand out against the bleak background. The picture has a symmetrical feel to it and is well organised.

Gary Numan -Genre-Electro pop – black and white is used to give the photo an old and depressing feel and Gary wears heavy eye make up reflecting his feminine side. He looks serious and concerned showing he is an emotional man. The white background stands out against the dominant contrast of Gary’s leather jacket. This shows he is fashionable and black could connote sadness or evil.

The velvet underground- High key lighting is used to give the photo a happy, positive mood. Their clothing mirrors the era and the bright coloured shirts and flares could represent the hippy era and psychedelic drugs.The surroundings are natural plants and greenery representing freedom, natural remedies and the hippy era.It looks like a big garden depicting their wealth. The bright colours could connote purity or happiness.

The Horrors- Dark Indie- The dark clothing and hair stands out against the white background connoting depression, emotion, darkness and evil. The bands expressions are saddened showing they are serious about their dark, emotion filled music . the lead singer ‘faris’ is blowing into his hands showing that there is a cold atmosphere. This could be linked with the supernatural or depression. The drummers suit shows they are fashionable and smart and also gives the photo an old feel. The hairstyles and eye shadow show they are also at touch with their feminine, emotional side which could appeal to their large target audience of emotional youth s growing up.

Metronomy-Nu Rave- The bright colours represent happiness and could reflect the bands joy of playing their music. The members almost look robot like which could link up with their electronic genre. The members of the band themselves are painted different colours showing that they want to stand out against all the other independent bands. The keyboards are all different colours also maybe reflecting their different personalities. The main sythesizer controller (oscar) is looking away from his keyboard cockily to show his immense keyboarding skills. The colours could also connote drugs which heighten the senses which are linked with this type of electronic music.
