VarioLED™ Flex enriches new application fields through innovation and technology. The foundationsarejapaneseLEDs,AmericanstandardsandGermanengineering.Dependingon the step measurement these flexible, linear LED lamps can be cut to the desired length from the reel. A reflective, white surface ensures maximum reflection of light. A ther-mally enhanced 3M tape on the back ensures a reliable connection on surfaces. The VarioLED™ Flex convinces with up to 7,890 lm/m (2,400 lm/ft) and 167 lm/W as well as a high color rendering of up to CRI > 98. The small cross section and the minimum bending radius of only 30 mm (1.2") allows the use in nearly any application requiring little space. The easy installation and compatibility with 15 different LED Linear™ contours complete the sophisticated system.

LUMINARIS XHAGA – is a flexible constant current (CC) LED tape family offering LED Linear™ expertise in the field as OEM solution. LUMINARIS XHAGA has been specifically designed to be an optimal replacement to rigid PCB based light source. Each tape is assembled using state of theartautomatedReeltoReel(R2R)productionprocesssupportingLEDLinear™TjAway® thin flexible circuit board Technology for an optimal heat dissipation. It delivers up to 6,400 lm/m (1,950 lm/ft) with a CRI up to 95. The LUMINARIS XHAGA family can be implemented in small or mediumsizethirdpartyluminairesthankstoappropriateLEDpitchesof10mm(0.39")or20mm(0.79"), and a narrow width of 12 mm (0.47"). An easy and reliable electrical connection is ensured thanks to poke-in connectors placed every 280 mm (11"). Only one electrical connection is re-quired for the entire line and can be performed at any poke-in connector position. The new standard for linear LED light module.

LUMINARIS ECO – is a flexible 24 V LED tape family offering a cost-effective solution. It integrates economical 3528 LED packages which deliver up to 2,200 lm/m (670 lm/ft). LUMINARIS ECO is availble with 12 mm (0.47") LED pitch for confined lighting configuration or 23 mm (0.91") for larger scale installation. It offers an easy solder-free connection thanks to click-on connectors.

VarioLED™ Flex IP67High protection and amazing flexibility

VarioLED™ Flex IP67 are flexible, linear LED light lines which are protected against envi-ronmental influences and can be produced in customer specified individual lengths.They are IP67 protected against water, salt water and UV radiation through a clear poly-urethaneencapsulation.Theutilizedpolyurethanefeaturesa5timeshigherchemicalresistance and a 10 times lower water transmission compared to typical Silicones for LED applicationsintherelevanttemperaturerange(–50°Cto80°C/–58°Fto176°F).Depend-ing on the step measurement they are freely scalable and available in lengths of up to 10 m (32.8'). The lamps are delivered ready to plug in with IP67 mini connectors at both ends and can be easily installed with an adhesive tape or plastic clips. A white base profile with lateral fins and reflective surface guarantees high luminous flux. The product is available in the colors White, Tunable White, RGB and Mono-Color. The small cross-section, the minimum bending radius of only 30 mm (1.18") and the high robustness allow use in virtually any application, such as coves, contours, furniture, organic forms, coun-ters, stairways and backlighting.

VarioLED™ IP67High protection and optimum heat dissipation

VarioLED™ IP67 are fully encapsulated linear LED light lines in aluminum profiles with excellent heat dissipation and very high lumen packages of up to 2,900 lm/m (884 lm/ft). They are IP67 rated and protected against water, salt water and UV radiation by a clear polyurethaneencapsulation.TheutilizedPolyurethanefeaturesa5timeshigherchemi-cal resistance and a 10 times lower water transmission compared to typical silicones for LEDapplicationsintherelevanttemperaturerange(–50°Cto80°C/–58°Fto176°F).Theyare delivered ready to use with an IP67 connector on both ends and can be easily installed via clips or mounting profiles. The aluminum profile is used for cooling, so that even powerful LED strips with up to 25 W/m (7.6 W/ft) can be used. They are suitable for surface mounting and recessed installation and optimal for the illumination of facades, baths and shower rooms, workshops, backlighting and other dusty or humid areas.

SAFETY AND ASSEMBLY INFORMATION FOR VARIOLED™ FLEX

• Please read the safety and assembly information and the corresponding references in this catalogue carefully.

• Mechanical stress of VarioLED™ Flex and its components has to be absolutely avoided.• Operation of VarioLED™ Flex in rolled-up condition is not allowed.• Assembly must not lead to damage or interruption of the circuit paths.• Power supply units used for operation should ensure the following basic protection

and safety features: • Short-CircuitProtection • OverloadProtection • OverheatProtection • SELVequivalent(SafetyExtraLowVoltage)/Class2• Observe correct electrical polarity. Wrong polarity can destroy the modules. Please

observe reverse voltage data in the data sheet. • Pay attention to the maximum output of the power supply.• Installation of LED modules (with power supplies) needs to be made with regards to all

applicable electrical and safety standards. Only qualified personnel should be allowed to perform installations.

• Only parallel drive circuits ensure a safe operation. A serial • electrical connection of modules must be avoided. Asymmetric voltage drops can lead

to a strong over current and damage of single modules.• The maximum length of a single unit to be driven in series equals the maximum length

according to the VarioLED™ Flex datasheet. • Avoid Electro-Static-Discharge (ESD) • The module, as manufactured, has no conformal coating and therefore offers no inher-

entprotectionagainstcorrosion.Theabilitytocustomizethelengthofthemodulebycutting at specifically marked points is a key of the product and hence the reason for no factory installed conformal coating. For these reasons, it is recommended that the user complete all module modifications first (cutting, wiring) and then apply a confor-mal coating in the final stage of the installation.

• Damage by corrosion will not be honored as materials defect claim. It’s user’s respon-sibility to provide suitable protection against corrosive agents such as moisture and condensation and other harmful elements.

• Donotlookdirectlyintothebrightlightsource(glarehazard!)• VarioLED™ Flex is not protected against humidity and dust. For using VarioLED™ Flex in

environments involving humidity or dust Vario LED™ Flex has to be protected by a fix-ture or housing with a suitable protection class.

• VarioLED™ Flex can be protected against condensation water by treatment with an ap-propriate circuit board grade conformal coating. The conformal coating should ensure the following features:

• Opticaltransparency • UV-resistance

• Thermalexpansionmatchingthethermalexpansion of the module 15 – 30 x 10–6 m/K

• Lowpermeabilityofsteamforallclimaticconditions • Resistanceagainstcorrosiveenvironment

The lacquer APL of the company Electrolube www.electrolube.com has fulfilled the condi-tions for VarioLED™ Flex in our tests.

• VarioLED™ Flex can be cut with a pair of scissors at marked locations according to the datasheet.

• Easy assembly and installation is facilitated by means of the double sided adhesive on the back-surface of VarioLED™ Flex. Pay attention to provide a clean and dry mounting surface, free of oils, silicones and dirt particles. The mounting surface must have suf-ficient structural integrity. LED Linear™ assumes no liability for the bonding of VarioLED™ Flex because of different applications, environmental conditions and sur-face properties. If necessary use additional fixing or installation.

• To ensure an optimal bonding VarioLED™ Flex should not be stored for longer than 12 monthsat20°Candupto50%relativehumidity(inpackedcondition)

• The conductors must be approved for the respective application.• Avoid adhesive bonding overhead without additional fixing measures.• Solder connections should only be performed manually on designated solder pads

(marked with “24 V”). The maximum solder time of 3 seconds and the maximum solder-ingtemperatureof350°Cmustnotbeexceededduringsoldering.Theminimumbend-ing radius is 3 cm (1.18"). VarioLED™ Flex may be bent over a smaller radius but only in areas containing no electronic components. Such bending should be made only once and fixed in position.

• In case of assembly on electric or other conductive surfaces, an electrical isolation between soldering points and mounting surface is necessary.

• VarioLED™ Flex shall only be mounted on surfaces that provide sufficient cooling.• Ensure sufficient ventilation and heat transfer from the product to the ambient (con-

vection).• The thermal length expansion coefficient is 17 x 10–6 m/K. When installing in environ-

ments with large variations in temperature (e. g. outdoor applications) and operating length of more than 2 m (6.56'), the use of metallic mounting surfaces is necessary. Otherwise it is advisable to use an additional thicker adhesive tape to absorb the stress of any mismatch in expansion coefficients.

• ThemaximumcablelengthfrompowersupplytotheVarioLED™Flexproductcanbetaken from the tables in the specification catalogue 2018/2019.
