We charge a one off hire fee which includes everything you need for a country wedding at Vallum Farm.

All you have to do is choose your food & drinks then plan the fun bits like flowers, dresses and music!

Our wedding team can take care of the details, so by the time your big day arrives, everything will

run smoothly.

These suggestions work a treat for parties up to about 150 – if you are planning a larger wedding, let us know

as we may still be able to help.

WELCOM ECountry Weddings at Vallum Farm are about taking

away the stress that can sometimes come with planning your special day – a fun, relaxed and memorable day to

celebrate the beginning of your new lives together.

Vallum is a family business. We grow, bake, cook and love food and are proud to have won multiple Taste Awards over the last 10 years. When you choose

Vallum you are choosing great quality and abundant food for your guests. Vallum is all about traditional

Northumbrian hospitality.

HOW IT WORKS

There are a few options here depending on your vision for your day and, of course, the weather! You can

use the willow lawn, the tipi or the Marquee itself. We only charge for an outdoor wedding if we can make it

Our marquee overlooks the vegetable garden and countryside in the distance and, as it is set up inside

our barn, we can host weddings all year round. In 2018 we purchased a stunning tipi which your guests can enjoy on the lawn in the fairer months. The tipi works

well as an outdoor chill out space or as a smaller venue for a get together the night before your wedding. In the winter, we move the tipi and it can work well as a

down zone for larger weddings.

As you can see, the venue hire changes depending on the day of the week and the month of the year. Aside from the food and drink – this fee should be

all inclusive of everything you need to hold a country wedding at Vallum Farm. From May to September your venue hire even and Vallum horse box for snacks or a

funky photo booth!

Mini Yorkshires with Roast beef and horseradish

We have a range of more substantial canapes which can also be served as a sharing starter.

FOODOur Mission statement is to be the best foodie

wedding venue in the North. We employ the same team of chefs all year round and use local produce.

Our team make everything from scratch so you know you are enjoying the best Northumberland has to offer.

Our Chefs are here to make sure your feast celebrates your day your way. We all meet to swap

ideas and design your menu, a creative process which couples love... every wedding is different.

In terms of suppliers, we are proud to work closely with Robin Baty of North Acomb Farm, less than 5 food miles from our farm gate. Robin supplies us with his home raised beef, pork and lamb which

makes our crackling the best you have ever tasted!

The chefs are hands on with production too. In January we plan our Kitchen Garden sowing programme and

we use our vintage tractor when picking the salads and veggies. We make our own breads in the bakery and

ice cream in the Little Dairy... it’s a family affair!

The most exciting part of our home-made menus has got to be our semi-naked cakes. Where else can you choose your flavours then have your guests watch the chefs decorate the cake during welcome drinks. We

pick edible flowers from the garden and use seasonal herbs to compliment your flavour choices.

If cake isn’t your bag and you prefer a cake of cheese .. we work with Doddington Dairy and

the Northumberland Cheese Company to build a cheese tower like no other.

You may have guests with specific dietary requirements, don’t worry, we cater separately for

every individual need and receive excellent feedback.

Children under 10 are charged at half price for a half portion

PA RT Y ONWe are hearing more and more that couples want

to make the most of their whole weekend. You are very welcome to hold a party in the tipi the

night before your wedding so that guests travelling from afar and family can gather and get to know eachother. This has worked particularly well with our Persian Feast or Fire and Flame menus which are great for keeping the mood light and festive.

The day after your wedding is a lovely time to swap stories, share photos and meet in a relaxed way. A simple, tasty, grazing style of service seems to

suit most parties and we have found the food goes down really well!

“We also had a Sunday brunch the day after our wedding, with more delicious food, the staff

were great and worked so hard to look after us all weekend” Rachel & Dave, 2018

“Thank you so much for having everything run so smoothly, for your help on the night and the BBQ

the next day. It must have taken a mammoth effort to turn the marquee around overnight and we really appreciate it. Vicky your passion for food is actually

what made us book with you when we first met.” Andy and Catherine, 2018

Our chefs have a wealth of experience in fine dining. The bespoke menu is exactly that... a menu designed between you and our chefs to give your

optimum dining experience.

Menus are distinctly seasonal. You will explore what is at its best with our chefs and we invite you to a

tasting in our mini dining room.

This works best for more intimate weddings as we can really go to town on skills and ideas.

DRIN KSAt Vallum you can either ask us to supply the wines or you can opt to bring your own. The latter is called ‘corkage’ and the different prices are outlined in the

adjoining price list.

How it works

When we supply the drinks, you are invited to Vallum for a Wine Tasting. We help you match the wine to your menu and on the day we keep the drinks

flowing. There is no limit to what people can drink.

When you opt for corkage we charge a one off fixed price per drinks per head. Service works exactly the same way as when we serve our own wines. All you need to do is deliver your drinks to us the day before your wedding and we take care of everything else.

Any leftover drinks are collected the next day.

Welcome drinks are served for one hour after your arrival or after your ceremony, table wines are served with your main course and we offer to top up glasses before the main course plates are cleared, toasting drinks are filled just before the speeches, which are

usually made after desserts are served.

We always make sure our own bar is open too so you are covered on all bases!

“An Amazing Day.

From the first visit to Vallum, we knew that it was the perfect venue for both of us as we could imagine our wedding taking place there straightaway; the beautiful scenery, outdoor festoon lighting and intimate but still roomy Marquee were perfect for our rustic, farm-style

dream wedding. The flexibility offered to us was important, as we wanted to put our own personal stamp on our wedding – I can’t recommend this enough

– although Vallum have a range of props that we used in our decorations too that tied in beautifully. We visited Vallum a number of times in the run up to the wedding, and every time were greeted like

old friends, free to check the Marquee to review the layout whenever we needed to and we had many conversations with Alice and Vicky about the day itself, with so much enthusiasm, brilliant ideas and

insight from them that we really appreciated, having never planned a wedding before!

We were able to dress the Marquee the day before, which was very reassuring as you can imagine! The

day itself was everything we wanted and more – it was perfect from beginning to end and we had so many compliments from our guests about how lovely the venue was and how amazing the food was – both

very important to us as we wanted the venue to look its best, but my husband is a huge foodie and also wanted the food to be perfect; we knew it would be with Vicky at the helm! The Yorkshire puddings went

down remarkably well! The addition of the Tipi was perfect – it gave another

area for guests to take a break from the main hub of the Marquee – we were blessed with beautiful

sunshine and scorching temperatures, so that outdoor element was very necessary! The horsebox also went down really well with our guests, and is very versatile

to fit in with what you want. All in all, our wedding was perfect in every way, for us and for all our guests – Alice was amazing at keeping everything ticking over behind the scenes and Vicky

checked in regularly to ensure everything was running well, as well as cooking one of the best meals we’ve had.”

Sarah and Kev July 2018

“We wanted a really relaxed, fun wedding. After looking around we fell in love with Vallum farm. The location is picturesque. Vicky, the owner is so easy going and nothing was too much trouble. We had the day exactly as we wanted, from the layout, the food, the timings, nothing was an issue. The food was amazing! It suited our personalities so much! I don’t think we have ever been to a wedding with such amazing food. All the guests commented on how great the food was. Alice was so efficient and

the whole team were so friendly. I would highly recommend a wedding at Vallum Farm, we had

TE S TIMON I A LS the best day and all our family and friends just kept saying how much fun they had and how much they loved the venue and the food. Thanks Vicky, Alice

and the team!”Carla & Dave August 2018

“Vallum Farm was absolutely the perfect venue for our wedding. We couldn’t have hoped for

a more special day.Rustic, modern venue, set in beautiful Northumberland countryside. Such a beautiful setting for our wedding photos. We were able to decorate the venue to really

personalise our day. Vicky and Alice were so professional, down to earth and friendly. During the planning they were to provide guidance and advise on aspects of the day we hadn’t considered. On the day they were so welcoming to us

and our guests. We had heard excellent reviews of the food at Vallum, and we were certainly blown away by the quality and

flavour of the food, it was a real highlight! We loved that it was all locally sourced, with vegetables fresh from the

allotment. Presented in a rustic, yet elegant way. We were encouraged to be involved in the food choices to make a personalised menu, which was a lovely touch.

The canapés were excellent. Guests with specific dietary requirements were really impressed with the quality and

variety of options available to them. We hosted a Persian feast for guests at the venue the

night before, a great way to relax and get excited with our family and friends the day before the wedding. The yurts on-site were perfect accommodation for our guests who

had travelled to be with us for the weekend.”Sophie & Sam July 2018

“Vallum Farm was the perfect venue for our perfect day. The setting was beautiful and very picturesque, which

was mirrored by the beautiful indoor marquee. There are plenty of photo opportunities both inside and out, and

the fire pit puts the cherry on top and was a great place for all our guests to hang out and chat. The food was

amazing, we went for the barbeque option, and although the weather wasn’t perfect and we had to bring it inside, the burgers and sausages and veggie options etc were

very tasty, as our guests kept reminding us, and the serving of the food was very well organised. The addition

of the ice cream stall is a must and was a massive hit for our guests and made sure that people never went

hungry throughout the day. The whole day was very well organised and Vicky and Alice made sure that we were

always looked after, and there was always staff on hand if we ever needed anything. We would recommend Vallum

to anyone who wants the perfect, relaxed countryside wedding, you won’t be disappointed!”

Hannah & Joel June 2018

“You were all OUTSTANDING!! Despite the weather you made our day perfect. We can’t thank you enough!”

We have so enjoyed hosting weddings at Vallum over the last 8 years. What has been lovely is the continued relationship we find ourselves with after

the big day. We frequently welcome our brides and grooms and their families back to Vallum in the restaurant. They become an extension of the Vallum family and it is so special to have catered a

few of their christenings already!

Peter, Vicky & team, Owners of Vallum Farm

If you like what you’ve seen, the next thing is to get in touch and come and take a look around.

Our events team will be able to show you around and answer any questions you no doubt have.

After this, you can decide on the majority of the big decisions (and a few of the small ones) so we can give you a full proposal with estimated total cost. To secure

the date, we will ask for £1,500.00.

The Small PrintAs you will no doubt see, we are really excited to be able to put together such a competitive selection of

choices for your wedding. In order to do this, we have to work in an extremely efficient way, so as to pass

those savings on to you.

Therefore it is important to understand that there are a few catches (if you can call them that). We

want to be completely open, honest and transparent about these, so here they are:

Included in the prices mentioned in this brochure are:

A meeting with our Events Manager to book your date and complete the necessary paperwork.

A meeting with our Events Manager three months prior to the wedding.

Setting out of table names and place names

Working with your vendors (i.e. florist) on the day after 10am.

All menus are subject to change in the event of adverse price spikes.

Please remember that whilst the marquee is yours for the big day, we may have to limit the access in the run up to it, but we will always endeavour to fit you in

where convenient.

Of course anything is possible, and can be discussed to suit you.

Which entrance should our guests use? Guests should enter through the main entrance that is directly off the Military Road. There are signposts

at the entrance for Vallum.

Can we provide a coach for our guests to be dropped off and picked up?

Yes! A lot of people like to have a bus to bring everyone to the wedding and then another one on

the night to pick everyone up.

Can guests park at Vallum? Yes, they can park in the separate car park and also

in the field next to the marquee if more space is needed. Guests may also leave cars overnight but

do so at their own risk.

Guests should collect cars by 11:30am the next day or, if you are hosting a gathering the day your

wedding, the day after that is absolutely fine.

Do we have exclusive use of the site? Vallum Farm is a working farm and there are other

businesses operating on site. You have exclusive use of the wedding venue, lawn and deck.

What is included in the Venue Hire price? Included in the venue hire are 6’ round tables, rustic cream Chiavari chairs, white table linen and napkins, crockery, cutlery, glassware, our garden games, fire pit with logs for the evening, bales, barrels, outdoor

sofas, table for gifts, wooden dance floor.

Can we hold our Ceremony at Vallum? Yes! We have a license to hold ceremonies on site

and as our marquee is built within a permanent structure you can get married in the marquee

overlooking the country views. If you would like to confirm Vallum as your wedding venue with a deposit, please ensure that you speak to the

registrar first to make sure the date and time that you would like is available and then let us know. To hold

your ceremony on site we charge £250.00.

What is the capacity for the marquee? The marquee can seat up to 160 guests but can

hold more for the evening party. And works well with 40 – 160 guests. If you would like a bigger wedding

we can quote for further tipis.

Can we have long tables? Yes no problem, our long tables are extra width and

seat up to 8 guests.

Can we have confetti? As long as you have eg dried flower petals or hole punched leaves or some other completely natural confetti this is fine. Plastic and coloured confetti is not good for the environment, we don’t even

use plastic straws here. Have you thought about bubbles? They make for great photos!

What garden games do you have? We have giant connect 4, quoits, giant jenga and skittles. You are also welcome to bring you own.

What are the toilet facilities? We have amazing loos!

Will the marquee be warm/cool enough? The marquee sits within our old Straw Barn so it is sheltered and shaded – the 3 sets of glass doors

can be opened if it gets warm. The marquee is also double lined, so it keeps the warmth in the evening (with all those bodies dancing!) We have marquee

heaters too if needed.

Is there anywhere to get some photos on the day? Yes, we have a lake just down the track, which is

lovely to capture some photos of your wedding party by the water, you might even see the swans! If the

weather isn’t great, don’t let that stop you, you could bring your wellies and get some country welly shots

for your wedding album!

Do you have any decorations that we can use? Yes, we have lots of bunting which you are welcome

to use (for free), it is all mixed pastel colours. The marquee is filled with festoon lights, so when the big lights go off the room is filled with lots of pretty lights

for the evening.

Are there heaters outside if it is cold? There aren’t heaters but there will be a fire pit with logs for the evening, which is great to sit around on the bales of hay that are covered with hessian and

have a drink!

How many people can fit around a table? Our 6’ round tables can fit between 8 to 12 guests

on each one.

Do you have a cloakroom we can use? Yes, we have an area where coats and wraps can be

hung for the evening.

Do you have a sound system for the speeches or background music?

Yes – we have a cordless microphone with built in sound system.

We can also play your music during the meal – just bring your iPod along and we can connect it for you.

Is there enough electricity for extra things? Yes – there is plenty! Any doubts, get in touch.

Do we need ‘Marquee Cover’ included in our Wedding insurance?

No. We own the marquee - and so it is covered for fire damage under our insurance.

Naturally if there was severe damage and we could no longer host your wedding, we would refund all the

money you have paid us.

Your own wedding insurance might cover the money you had paid to other suppliers (ie, florist,

photographer, band etc).

Can we set up a gift/guest book table? Of course!

Is there a children’s play area? Yes, in the play paddock near the wedding lawn we have a children’s play area, which is open to other customers, but children are welcome to play. Adult

supervision is needed.

Can we use Fireworks or Sky Lanterns? Unfortunately not - with livestock close by, fireworks sends them into a mad rush, and sky lanterns can

cause all sorts of problems.

Have you thought about low-level silent fireworks, like Catherine Wheels?

What are the bar and music end times? We have a license to play music until 11pm, and to

serve at the bar until 11:00pm.

Can we decorate the marquee ourselves? Yes, you are welcome to come the day before between 12pm and 4pm and drop any drinks or decorations off that you may have. If you would like to put bits out

yourselves we are happy for you to do so.

How do I confirm/how does it work? We will put together your Wedding Notes for you with your wedding details and food, drink choices etc.. And send them to you. If you are happy with everything and would like to go ahead, we ask for

£1,500.00 to secure the date.

16 weeks before your Big Day we ask for 50% of the remaining estimated total.

8 weeks before your Big Day we will have our ‘3-month to go meeting’ where we will finalise details

and then 6 weeks before your Big Day the final balance is due.

What is the 3-month to go meeting? In this meeting we will go through the running order

and times for the day, final numbers, final menu choices, any dietary requirements and any other

details that you wish to go through.

Do you have Terms & Conditions? Yes, they are on our website

www.vallumfarm.co.uk/weddings and have a tab on the left hand side.

When do guests have to vacate the premises? All guests should vacate the premises by

11.45pm at the latest, unless you have asked us for a later license.

FOOD FAQS DRIN K FAQSCan you provide something that isn’t

mentioned in your brochure? Yes, if you have something in mind that you can’t see in our brochure as a menu choice, just ask! We are

flexible and can cost it up for you if you wish. We can also cater to any intolerances or allergies that your

guests may have!

Can we taste the menu? We designed our prices to be as competitive as

possible, so we did not build in a free tasting.

If you are particularly keen, this can be arranged.

The tasting itself is for 4 people, and then we add the equivalent of 8 people onto the food charge for the

wedding day to cover the cost of the tasting (the cost per person of making 4 meals is much higher than

the cost per person when making 100 meals). If you would like more people to join the tasting, they are

charged at the normal per head rate.

When do I need to confirm final numbers and choices?

In your 3 month to go meeting we will finalise your menu choices and take your projected final

numbers from you. You then have up until 2 months before your wedding to make any changes to your

numbers. After this time your numbers may not decrease but we may be able to increase them.

In the notes, what is the difference between a ‘Baby’ and a ‘Child’?

Normally a baby will receive a high chair and have food from their parents - and are not charged for.

A child (under 10) will receive a normal chair, and a child sized portion - charged at half the normal price.

Do you cater for our suppliers? Yes! You can either pay for them to enjoy your

wedding breakfast menu choice or we can arrange a plate of sandwiches, cakes, tea & coffee for £10/head. Just let us know if you would like us to cater

for your band/DJ/photographer.

Can we have a chocolate fountain? Unfortunately we can’t allow chocolate fountains in

the marquee because of the carpet and lining.

Do you allow outside catering? We don’t allow outside caterers to come in and use our kitchens but if there is something you would like to have on your wedding day that you don’t see in

our brochure, please just ask!

Can we have tea and coffee after the meal? We can either serve everyone tea and coffee to the tables at £2.50pp Or have a Tea & Coffee station for

half an hour after the meal at £2.00pp

How does your corkage work? (And what about the evening?)

So that you know exactly how much you are spending, we charge corkage per person, rather than per bottle. The number of bottles you get

through is not counted - the corkage is paid for that ‘service’ (ie, arrival, table, toast)

Once that service section is finished, any remaining bottles you have provided will be stored for you to

collect following your wedding.

Can we use any left over drink that we have provided for the daytime, on the evening?

No, once your arrival drinks have finished, any left over drinks will be stored ready for you to collect

the following day. The same applies to any toasting drinks and table drinks so any bottles of wine,

champagne and Prosecco will come off the tables after the wedding breakfast and speeches have finished. No drinks that you have provided for the daytime can be served after this. The bar will then

continue serving for the rest of the day.

What can we provide for drinks if we are paying corkage?

You could provide Wine, Prosecco, Champagne or Pimms with lemonade and fruit such as mint, cucumber and strawberries. If you would like to provide bottles of beer for the arrival drinks you may do this for this part of the day too. We also

have a range of local ales from Wylam & Allendale Breweries including our very own Vallum Pale Ale

from Allendale Brewery, if you would like to provide a great local ale at your wedding, just ask! We

can’t allow kegs of beer or bottled spirits within the corkage prices.

You can also bring a non-alcoholic choice of drink for any non-drinkers or children, such as fruit juice or

fruity sparkling water for example

How does the bar work? We have a fully stocked bar that will be open all day. The bar shuts at 11pm in accordance with our late license. There will be soft drinks, spirits, local ales

and other beers available also.
