This portrait photograph shows the old liver building in Liverpool, it is taken from a low angle which's makes the building look ominous and overpowering. This is what I like about the picture. This photograph is a good example of showing old buildings in the Liverpool area as it is well know. The colours used in the photograph work well as the building and the background contrast, making the building stand out which is good as it is the main focus of the photograph. I think that the photographer is trying to show the importance of the building overall.

Old and new style watches

The reason I chose watches to look at is because it is a good representation of our topic ‘time’, I particularly like this picture as it shows old style watches and how style has changed over time. The background of this image is old and worn suggesting that it is an old item and has been through time. The picture denotes a watch, there is a shadow on one side of the object, which could again connote time. The light on one side and darkness on the other could show the day to night process again suggesting the passing of time

I have chosen this image to represent past and present photography as it fully shows the transition from the past to the present , i particularly like the main focus on the photograph as it shows that it is the main object in the picture. The background is blurred, yet not so much that it is indistinguishable and we are unable to tell what the image is trying to show. The theme of time is obviously present in this image, the bare grass and worn tiles show that they are older than they appear in the photograph in the persons hand.

Childhood memories

For the topic of childhood memories I have chosen this particular photograph to represent it. A simple playground, as a child a place I visited a lot. I like this picture as it is conflicting to what people normally think of children's playgrounds, which are usually happy, colourful and bright places. This photograph has a black and white effect which makes it look old and derelict. The use of the fog and bare trees in the background make the photo somewhat daunting and scary. Furthermore, i am interested in this picture as again, it shows the passing of time; it shows what used to be a happy place and what is now only alive in memories.

Rush Hour

For the topic ‘rush hour’ i have decided to focus in on this picture, it shows the business of people in the stations daily lives. The trains appear to be the main feature in the photograph as they are the only things in focus. The use of time lapse in this picture suggests that there are many people in the station throughout the day and that they are in a rush. The pop of colour from the people could suggest the many different personalities of the people who are walking through the station and the different things that they are in a rush to get the train for.

I have also chosen to focus in on the subject of eyes to represent the topic of time. The ageing of eyes and eyes of people at different ages is an unusual and interesting way of showing time through a series of pictures. I particularly like the picture due to the blurred background as it suggests that the eyes are the main focus of the image. From this picture you can also fully tell the age of the person involved- in this case a young child.

I have chosen flowers as sometime to look at as I feel as though they show time through nature. The process of flowers blossoming to them dying is a process that represents time in an unusual way.
