Photoshop ® Tip: Masking with Text 6. Select the Marquee tool from the Tool palette. Draw a box around the letter of your choice. 7. Layer > New > Layer via Copy. Repeat for the other letters. Name each layer its respective letter. 8. Drag images into layout by selecting the Move tool and dragging image into the appropriate screen. (Holding Shift key while dragging will place the image in the center of the page.) 9. While holding down the Ctrl key (Option on a Mac), click a layer on the Layers palette to select the outline of the text. To select multiple layers, hold down the Shift key. 10. Select the Layer Mask icon on the Layers palette. 11. Continue applying the mask to all of the pictures. 1. File > New. 2. Set page dimensions, then click OK. 3. Select Type tool from the Tool palette. 4. Click Type tool on page and type in word. 5. Layer > Rasterize > Type. Tip: To add Center Guidelines, select the background layer, then move your mouse over the top of the ruler. When it changes to a pointer, you can click and drag a guideline. Continued on next page

7. Layer > New > Layer via Copy. Repeat for the other letters. Name each layer its respective letter.

12. Click the Lock between that layer and the layer mask.

13. Select the Move tool and position the images inside of the layer masks.

14. Image > Transform > Scale to resize the image as necessary. To rotate the image, move the mouse outside of the selection. Once you see the double arrow, click and move to rotate.

15. Layer > Layer Style > Bevel and Emboss; select attributes and click OK. Repeat for all layers.

16. Once complete, Layer > Flatten Image.
