What is Pinterest?

What do I do with Pinterest?

• Pinterest works with “pins”. Think of Pinterest as a collection of bulletin boards. People use push pins to post up pictures they want to save for later on their own bulletin boards.

Why Do I Want To Use This in Ministry?

• To curate content for myself and those I work with.

What is Curation?

• “Content curation is the process of identifying the most relevant content on a subject, then sifting and sorting through to cherry-pick the gems that you think will provide the most value to your audience or like-minded people.”

How Do I Curate Material?

• Search for “people” to follow or search for key words

Once you follow “people”, their pins will show up on your Pinterest homepage.

Click the “heart” button to “like” the pin. This will tell Pinterest you want to keep seeing pins like this. Click the “save” button with the pushpin on it to save it to one of your boards to revisit later.

Catholic?

• Does the content of the website align with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the liturgical cycle?

Why Do I Want To Use This in Ministry?

• So others can collaborate with me and pin pins on a shared board. For example, you and your RCIA team can all post to one board OR all of the 6th grade catechists can pin websites with good information or projects on the 6th grade Religious Education board.

Why Do I Want To Use This in Ministry?

• So others can visit my boards and pin my pins onto their boards. This is a great way to bring people to your blog/website and freely share your work with others.
