Custom PilgrimageThank you for considering traveling with our group to Germany & Austria!

I’m Fr. Scott Goodfellow, a priest in Cleveland ordained in 2014, and I will be leading our Passion Play pilgrimage. My favorite hobby is home brewing, which

me and my dad have been doing together since 2010. Together we’ve made dozens of different kinds of ales and lagers. Naturally, we would like to visit

breweries & churches on this pilgrimage since brewing & Catholicism is such a prominent part of these cities we will be visiting. I hope my experience as a

priest & brewer will help you enter into the gifts of this trip more deeply.

The highlights of this trip are threefold: spiritual, historical, and flavorful. Spiritually, we will be celebrating Mass each day as we prepare for the Passion Play at Oberammergau. Historically, we will visit many churches, monasteries,

castles, and cities, as well as experience a nearly 400 year-old Passion Play tradition. Flavorfully, we will be taking some brewery tours and tasting many beer varieties from some of Germany’s and Austria’s finest breweries. More

than anything, this trip is a celebration of our humanity in all its richness: faith, tradition, and joy. As we prepare for Jesus’ Passion at Oberammergau, we will no doubt be filled with much gratitude for His sacrifice and the gifts He wants

us to receive from Him!

the Marienplatz, Nymphenburg Palace and other points of interest. We take dinner in the typical German brevery Hofbrauhaus with beer included. Overnight in Munich.

DAY 5 - mon sep 21: munich I OBERAMMERGAU We will start the day with Munich walking tour with Frauenkirche. Mass at Frauenkirche. Free time for lunch at Augustiner am Dom or Paulaner. On the way to Oberammergau, we may take an optional stop at Ayinger Privat Brauerei for a two hour tour and beer tasting. Dinner and overnight in Oberammergau.

DAY 6 - tue sep 22: passion play The entire day is devoted to attending a performance of the world-famous Passion Play, held once every ten years in this tiny alpine village. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 - wed sep 23: OBERAMMERGAU I EAGLE’S NEST I SALZBURG After breakfast we board our motor coach and enjoy the beautiful Alpine countryside as we head to Berchtesgaden, Germany. Enjoy the fascinating boat ride on the Koenigsee. We take a special bus and funicular up to the Kehlsteinhaus - Eagle’s Nest – one of Hitler’s headquarters and now a restaurant with the most fabulous view of the Alps. Lunch at Eagle’s Nest or on the way after. Continue on to the “Sound of Music” city of Salzburg for dinner and overnight.

DAY 8 - thu sep 24: salzburg Our morning sightseeing starts with the Cathedral and Mirabell Palace. Next, we tour Funicular, the Hohensalzburg Fortress Courtyards and museum, followed by a visit to Mozart’s birth place (Geburtsthaus). This afternoon we visit the Augustinerbräu - Kloster Mülln Brewery to taste the Monks varieties, one of the best in Austria.  Dinner and overnight in Salzburg. Mass at Maria Plain

DAY 9 - fri sep 25: SALZBURG I melk I vienna After breakfast we pass by the Alps and go Melk Abbey where we will have guided tour. Mass at

Melk Abbey. Continue on to Vienna where each can get their first impressions of the City of Classical Music. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Vienna.

DAY 10 - sat sep 26: vienna This morning we join our guide on a panoramic tour of Vienna and visit of Schonbrunn Palace, former hunting ground of the Habsburgs, located outside of Vienna. The palace rivals France’s Versailles Palace and is furnished with many lush fixtures. Enjoy lunch (on our own) at the Salm Bräu. This brewery is very interesting architecturally due to it being located on the premises of a former convent. There is both a downstairs and an upstairs to this brewery with bars in each area. The downstairs has a bit of a cellar feel to it with a narrow tunnel (with tables) leading between the two main seating areas. This gives the patron a sense of almost being in a cave, especially with the amount of stonework that surrounds this area. Some free time on your own. This evening enjoy dinner and overnight at our hotel in Vienna.

DAY 11 - sun sep 27: vienna I usa Transfer this morning to the Vienna Airport at the end of our memorable pilgrimage.

DAY 1 - thu sep 17: NORTH AMERICA I europe Depart USA for Europe. Breakfast and dinner will be served aloft.

DAY 2 - fri sep 18: frankfurt I BISCHOFSHEIM AN DER RHöN I I BAMBERG AREA Upon arrival at Frankfurt airport we are met by our tour escort and European motor coach.
