1. The Answer Sheet is inside this Test Booklet. When you are directed to open this Test Booklet, take

A Day Like No Other

Frank Wilcox has been Chief of Police in Lansett County for 25 yr. He took the job when he had just

turned 30, Pie has seen murders. He has seen robberies. He has seen cats stuck in trees. He has found

missing children but today would be like no other day on the job.

It is 11:00 at night. Chief Wilcox begins putting together his things. He is tired. He wants to go home.

PMGSY

The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) external website that opens in a new window was

launched on 25th December, 2000 as a fully funded Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The primary objective

of the PMGSY is to provide connectivity to all the eligible unconnected habitations of more than 500

persons in the rural areas (250 persons in the hilly and desert areas) by good quality all weather roads.

Under Bharat Nirman, goal has been set to provide connectivity to all the habitations with population of

more than 1000 in the plain areas and habitations with a population of 500 or more in hilly and tribal

areas in a time bound manner by 2009. The systematic upgradation of the existing rural road networks is

also an integral component of the scheme. Accordingly, an action plan has been prepared for connecting

66802 habitations with 146185 1cm of all weather roads. This action plan, also envisages upgradation

renewal of 194130 km of the existing rural road network. Subsequently, based on ground verification by

states, 629S5 habitations were found eligible to be connected under the programme, out of which 3421

habitations have been connected under other schemes. Thus, the revised target is to connect 59564

habitations. It is estimated that an investment of about Rs 48000 crore would be required for achieving

the targets under Bharat Nirman. The implementation strategy focuses on quality, cost management and'

on time' delivery.

Up to July, 2008, project proposals amounting to Rs 81717 crore have been approved against, which a

sum of Rs 38499 crore has been released for 86146 roads covering a length of 331736 km. Against these,

52218 road works having road length of 175629 km have been completed with a cumulative expenditure

of Rs 35295 crore.

The capacity to cover a distance in A certain time interval is known as the velocity in a certain direction

or the speed of the body.

Mathematically, the speed of a body is given by ratio of total distance covered by the body to the time

The pressure at any place due to the atmosphere. Surrounding Earth is called the atmospheric pressure.

Its value varies from place to place on the Earth. Its value at the Earth surface near the sea level is around

1.01 × 105 Pa. The Pa (Pascal) is SI unit used for the pressure. The value of 1 atmospheric pressure (i.e., 1

atmosphere) is taken as 760 mm of Hg. Atmosphere is the SI unit used for the pressure.

The materials that can flow are known as fluids. This implies that all liquids and gases are fluids. A solid

exerts a pressure due to its weight. Similarly, fluids have weight and they also exert a pressure on base

and walls of container in which they are contained. If we exert an extra pressure to any confined mass of

the fluid, it is transmitted throughout the liquid undiminishably in all directions. The pressure inside the

liquids is the same at all the points at the same horizontal level. As we go deeper in the liquids.

e.g., If a hole is created (one by one) at two levels of a liquids filled container, the speed of rejected liquid

is greater. If the distance of holes from the bottom of the container is smaller.
