Polar Station Data Transfer

Acquisition of Satellite data in Sweden All Data are transferred for further processing

in Thailand.

The polar station is connected with SUNET.

GISTDA’s station is connected with UniNet.

The data volume is around 690 MB to 30 GB image data per one orbits (~2 orbits/day) or upto 60 GB per day

Use of Data transfer over GEANT and TEIN3 greatly reduces transfer time in case of emergency situation

Tests show that bandwidth available will be multiple fold over the current available system

The system consists on a 4.5 meter diameter antenna with S-band capabilities providing simultaneous transmission and reception capabilities for LEO satellites. The antenna provides satellite tracking by means of Program Tracking mechanisms.
