DV Systems Piston Compressor Product Line. DV Systems offers (2) types of Piston Compressor Units, namely the ‘Heavy Duty Industrial’ (‘HDI’) line and the ‘Standard Duty Industrial’ (‘SDI’) line. Though there are similarities between the two Units, the most notable difference is the Pumps used. DV Systems (and its predecessors) has been manufacturing the ‘HDI’ line of Air Compressors in Barrie, Ontario for over 50 years. The same quality and dedication goes into the engineering and manufacturing of the product today as it did for the last 50+ years. To compliment our ‘HDI’ line, we designed 10+ years ago a more cost affective alternative to the ‘HDI’ Units, namely the ‘SDI’ line. The differences between the two lines are as indicated below.

Notes: 1. The Cylinder Heads on the ‘DEV-20’ to ‘DEV-55’ are aluminum. Cylinders Heads on the ‘DEV-100’ Pump are cast iron. 2. All Valves on the ‘HDI’ Pumps include Discs and Springs. Replacement Valves are required on the ‘123’ and ‘223’ Pump.

Valve Repair Kits including Discs, Springs, etc are available for the ‘247’ and ‘447’ Pumps. 3. The ‘SDI’ Units utilize Reed Valves in the ‘DEV-20’ to ‘DEV-55’ Pumps, and Disc Valves on the ‘DEV-100’ Pump. 4. The 7 Year (total) HDI Pump Warranty is available only if the Customer registers their Compressor Unit with DV Systems,

uses only DV parts and Kits in the maintenance of the Unit, and maintains the Unit according to the appropriate DV Maintenance Schedule as indicated in the manual accompanying the Unit

5. The 5 Year (total) HDI Motor Warranty applies only to 3 phase Motors and is available only if the Customer registers their Compressor Unit with DV Systems. The first year of the warranty includes parts and labour, the remaining 4 years parts only.

‘HDI’ - Heavy Duty Industrial Air Compressor Units.

Duplex Alternator Control Panels.

These Control Panels are used with Duplex Compressor Units (two Pumps and two Motors on one Air Tank) only, and allow each Pump/Motor combination to start and stop alternately. If the active Pump/Motor cannot keep up with the demand, the second combination will be called in to assist. The Duplex Alternator Control Panel includes:

(2) Magnetic Starters (1) Logic Relay c/w DV Systems Alternating Program loaded (1) Stepdown Transformer (not required for 115 volt Units only) (2) Primary and (1) Secondary Fuses (not required for 115 volt Units only) (1) Nema 4 / 4X / 12 Enclosure (2) Hand/Off/Auto Switches (2) Red Run Lights Terminal Blocks to accommodate: (2) Oil level Monitors and

(1) external Remote Alarm (by others than DV Systems). Panels are CSA approved.

Note: 1) As the Duplex Panels include (2) Magnetic Starters and the Alternator, order the Compressor Unit

‘Less Drive’ Units provide a means of stocking a Tank and Pump Assembly in your facility, and then installing an appropriate Motor, Pulley, Belts, etc depending on your current requirement. The ‘Less Drive Units’ include:

Note A: Maintenance Kit ‘MK-100’ includes Air Filters of dimensions 4-1/8” OD x 2-3/4” ID x 2”H, and is used on older Pumps. Current Compressor Pump Maintenance Kits. The Maintenance Kits indicated on the above chart include the appropriate Oil and Filter for one service interval. The ‘SDI’ Maintenance Kits contain the 30 Weight Mineral Oil. Should your application require Synthetic Oil, do not purchase the Maintenance Kit as indicated above, but rather purchase the appropriate Air Filter Element(s) and a 4 litre Jug of ‘OJ2000-K1’ Synthetic Oil. The Synthetic Oil is generally used in applications where a) the Compressor is located in a very warm environment or b) the Compressor has a relatively high duty cycle. The Synthetic Oil does not need to be changed as often as standard Mineral Oil (roughly half as often), and it inhibits carbon build-up at the Valves. If your application requires Food Grade Oil, purchase the appropriate Air Filter Element(s) and a 4 litre Jug of ‘DEV-3501’ 30 Weight Food Grade Oil.

Vibration Isolators. The Vibration Pads absorb any vibration caused by the Unit and make up for any irregularities in the shop floor. The 4” x 4” Pads are used with Piston Units. The larger 8” x 8” Pads are generally used on Screw Compressors. The Pads are comprised of layers of cork and neoprene.

Spring Vibration Isolators are generally used in applications where a Compressor Unit is installed on a mezzanine. They have a greater dampening affect than the cork neoprene Pads, but can only be used on Horizontal Compressors. Installation Accessories.

Automatic Tank Drains.

The Compressor Tank must be drained on a daily basis, as per the manufacturer’s instructions. A buildup of water in the Tank will a) limit the Compressor performance, b) potentially cause moisture in your air lines and c) cause the Tank to deteriorate prematurely. An Automatic Drain, either Pneumatic or Electronic, may be purchased to ensure that the draining is done on a regular basis.

Low Oil Safety Monitor.

The Low Oil Safety Monitor provides a means of automatically shutting the Compressor Unit off when the oil level in the Pump has gone below a minimum acceptable level. They are only available on ‘HDI’ Unit 3 HP and larger.

Constant Run Kits.

Constant Run Kits can be installed on an ‘HDI’ Unit where it is not practical to have the Unit start and stop, as is the normal mode of operation. These Kits are often used where there is insufficient power in a building, or when a Unit starts and stops often. The optional 4 Way Valve, coupled with the appropriate Constant Run Kit, allows the Unit to operate as a ‘constant run’ Unit or as a ‘start stop’ Unit.

Beltguard Aftercoolers.

A Beltguard Aftercooler allows the compressed air to cool after leaving the Pump but before entering the Air Receiver. (It lowers the temperature of the air by anywhere from 100°F to 125°F.) To take any moisture from the air before entering the Tank (moisture is ‘dropped out’ of the air as it is cooled), the assembly may be purchased with a 10 Micron Separator Filter.
