Andrea Dazzi moved to Australia in 2009 from the beautiful region of Taormina in Sicily. While working for many years in hospitality he built his career in Italy, based on a passion for food and wine. The Italian culture and tradition are a big part of his life which he tries to share with his customers and Australian friends.

He met Nico 10 years ago and within a short time they became good friends. The idea to create a new Italian spot in Newcastle was talked about, but it was only in 2019 their dreams became a reality.

Bella Italia opened its doors in May 2019. Unique, traditional and passionate are just three of the characteristics of this niche restaurant in the heart of Newcastle.

Nico Gentile is from Lake Como in the North of Italy. His background in food began at a young age, where he learnt to cook in his family business. His passion for food grew in Australia as head chef in some very well-known Italian restaurants in Sydney. Defining Nico’s cuisine is very simple . . . Authentic and traditional.
