A true revolution of values will

soon cause us to question the

fairness and justice of many of our

past and present policies. On the

one hand, we are called to play

    the good Samaritan on lifes

roadside; but that will be only an

initial act. One day we must come

to see that the whole Jericho road

must be transformed so that menand women will not be constantly

beaten and robbed as they make

    their journey on lifes highway.

    True compassion is more than

flinging a coin to a beggar; it is nothaphazard and superficial. It

comes to see that an edifice which

    produces beggars needs

    restructuring.

Is there anything that resonates with you or with your

    experiences? What is your reaction?

What edifices in our day do you see creating morebeggars that need restructuring? How about in your

    own ministries?

Is economic injustice somehow at the root of or relatedto the injustices you work to address in your

    ministries?

Or, does economic injustice prevent those issues from

    being effectively addressed?

What do you think about this vision? Do you think we,

as a parish, might be able to focus on one aspect ofeconomic justice?

Do have any ideas about how this could work?

Is this something your ministry would be willing to be

a part of? Would your ministry commit to offering

something as part of this process?

Would any of you be willing to serve on asubcommittee of the Working Group?
