Spring Newsletter 2019 Welcome Spring 2019! Welcome to the many new members of the PLA, and of course Welcome Back to all of our seasoned members. I hope this newsletter finds you well and looking forward to another year at Paulinskill Lake. I believe that when we are welcomed and comforted by a person, place, or a business it increases the likelihood that we will want to learn more, do business with them, or pursue a meaningful interaction. There are many new habits all of us can adopt starting NOW that make us more approachable and encourage other people to engage with you. Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success. In this day and age of social media, we should be cautious of what is posted online and consider what is written, and how what is written can be understood, or even misunderstood. I would like to emphasize, Paulinskill Lake runs smoothly, is financially sound, and is a Great Place to Live. I have an open-door policy for all members of this community, as does the entire board. I welcome you to contact me directly, or any member of our board with questions, concerns or complaints. The board needs to know and hear from the members in order to be active with the community as well as potentially improve PLA business processes within reason. Your board will listen, and consider all possibilities before making any decisions that are in the best interest of the community as a whole. There is always a place for everyone in our community to “be a part of something”. Whether your “something” is to become more involved in how our community operates (Open Board Meetings, 2 nd Wednesday of every month), or to attend more events! We want to see all of you get involved, because ultimately it is your community. Many of our Trustees run committees and are always looking for new community members to help. If you are interested in playing a role on any of these committees, many talents are required, so please feel free to send me an email [email protected] As this summer approaches, I look forward to seeing all my neighbors outside enjoying the warmer weather and encourage everyone to take advantage of the beautiful community we live in. Please make sure you bookmark the official Paulinskill Lake Association websites below for the latest information. Kind Regards, Scott Douglas President Paulinskill Lake Association, Inc. P.O. Spring Newsletter 2019

Welcome Spring 2019!

I'm sure we are all ready for Spring. I can't wait to get out on the lake to enjoy some Spring fishing. There are plenty of bass, pan fish, catfish, and carp in our lake just waiting to be caught. Below the dam you can find trout and the occasional walleye too. Soon, the grass will be turning green and the leaves will be sprouting, which will mean that summer is not far away. With the warmer weather coming, I'm sure the savory smell of everyone cooking on their grills will fill the air. That also means that the bears will be out and about, so please keep your trash inside or in secure containers until the morning of garbage collection. I also urge everyone to drive carefully and watch out for people walking and cycling on our roadways. I look forward to seeing many old friends and making new friends down at the beaches this year. Thanks again for allowing me the opportunity to be on the board and to serve our community.

Beaches Tracey Coombs Anyone interested in lifeguarding at Paulinskill this summer please send an email requesting an application to Tracey at [email protected]. We are also seeking someone with WSI certification to run our swimming lesson program, and a tennis camp instructor. Environmental Cindy Tracey Please have your septic pumped this year if your house ends in an odd number. Use lawn fertilizers sparingly or not at all, what goes on the ground goes into the lake. I am researching releasing quail/ bobwhite here at the lake. They are known to eat ticks and they are native to the area. Their numbers have been in decline for many years. I will keep you posted when I have more information. To all fishing people: please take pictures of the fish you catch at the lake, (between the causeway and dam) measure and weigh, if possible and send to [email protected] Boating: Kayak stand lottery is available at [email protected]. Please fill out the form and email back. Must be a member in good standing (dues paid in full). Stand available for winners from March 1, until November 30, 2019. All kayaks must be removed by December 15, 2019. Any kayaks left after December 16, 2019 will be considered abandoned.

Building and Grounds Paul Russo We have completed the process of soliciting bids for grounds maintenance for the next 3 years. Eleven local contractors were approached, nine of them reviewed our proposal, and four submitted bids. We are pleased to announce that the contract has been awarded to Palmer Services in Fredon. We look forward to improved care and appearance of our grounds going forward.

Littering at our properties, especially at the ballfields, continues to be a problem. We encourage all those using PLA grounds to please have the courtesy to take your trash and recycling with you.
