sledding, snowboarding and snow mobile. Snow wear can be taken on rent from local vendors.

Auli


Lying in the Chamoli district in the Himalayan Mountains and surrounded by coniferous and oak

forests, Auli offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Auli is popular for being a ski destination not

just because of its beautiful glittering slopes but for the nice, clean environment as well. It also hosts

winter sports competitions. One can enroll himself in the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN),

which offers a fortnight-long skiing course for the amateurs.

Kufri

Kufri is a small hill station in Shimla District at a distance of 13 km from Shimla. During winter a

meandering path through the potato plantations turns into a popular ski track. This is the season

when adventure sports are in full swing. It offers one of the finest ski-slopes in the country. It is

among the top destinations for experiencing snowfall in Himachal.



Dhanaulti

A hill station 24 km from Mussoorie and 300km from Delhi, Dhanaulti is popular among the tourists

who want to experience snowfall near Delhi. Dhanaulti is known for its quiet environs amidst the

forests of Deodar, Oak and Rhododendron.

Munsiyari

Nestled in the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas and situated on the banks of river

Goriganga, Munsiyari literally translates to ‘place with snow’. Previously a restricted area, it is

now a popular destination for mountaineers, high altitude trekkers and nature & glacier lovers

who use it as their hub or base camp.



Mukteshwar

Located in the Nainital District of Uttarakhand, Mukteshwar got its name from a 350 year old

temple of Lord Shiva ‘Mukteshwar Dham’. Nestled among fruit orchards and coniferous forests,

it offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Due to its high altitude of 7500 feet, it experiences

heavy snowfall in the winter months.


North Sikkim


North Sikkim, the northern district of Sikkim is located at a distance of 65 km from Gangtok. It is

a land where heaven touches the earth, with thick smell of wild flowers, mossy trees, streams

rushing down, mists coiling up from the deep gorges, flashy flight of colorful birds, huge snow

range embossed in the horizon, wide spread valley and deep blue sky. Located at an altitude of

3950ft, North Sikkim experiences snowfall almost throughout the year. Lachung and Yumthang

Valley are ideal places to see snow.

Gulmarg

Located in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, Gulmarg is famous for being one of the best

snow destinations in India. The exceptional beauty of Gulmarg and its proximity

Leh is a district in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Dotted with stupas & crumbling mudbrick houses,

dominated by a dagger of steep rocky ridge topped by an imposing Tibetan-style palace and fort, Leh

is so easy to fall in love with. The city experiences harsh winters from October to early March and

gets occasional snowfall during winter.
