what is

STUDENT DISCOVERIES?

Teacher Infused. Student Inspired.

For more than 80 years, the Globus family of brands has been telling the stories behind the world’s most extraordinary destinations. Through Student Discoveries, we bring this experience to life for student groups. Student Discoveries is an alternative to traditional educational travel options. Our vacations are 100% influenced by educators, infused with “World-Class Moments” that can be easily tailored to the classroom curriculum. And because we’re the Globus family of brands, we do it all with a special service touch and at a very competitive price.

We are proud to offer unparalleled sales and marketing support to help you, our valued agent, sell to this growing student travel market.

why sell

STUDENT TRAVEL?MARKET SIZE. The student travel market represents one of the largest segments of the leisure travel industry. Students travel with many different organizations, including class trips, school sports teams, bands, choirs, churches, and on volun-tourism trips. Menlo Consulting Group estimates the total potential market for school-sponsored educational trips to be approximately 8.9 million children in 6.7 million households. This is too large of a market not to be part of your agency’s travel portfolio.

RESILIENCY. This market has been known to be more resilient during economic fluctuation since many athletic teams, performance groups, and classes travel regularly as part of their education. Parents are willing to spend money for their children to learn more about the world around them while traveling with their teacher and classmates.

LOYALTY. Student groups are loyal to their travel provider once they’ve had a good experience. Travel agencies that understand student travel typically have multiple student groups and many repeat customers.

what sets

STUDENT DISCOVERIES APART?Inspired Itineraries. Combining our expertise with input from educators and students, we are introducing new itineraries to the top-selling student destinations and adding a twist—enhancing the curriculum and bringing to life educational moments. Best of all, they are created with the student in mind. See this new line-up at www.globusfamilypartner.com.

World-Class Moments. Special educational experiences within each program are designed to match class curricula in Social Studies, Math/Science, and Language Arts. Each program contains World-Class Moments that fit the following themes:

Who’s Who: Each student is equipped with a card containing an outline of a person, place, or event highlighted in the

itinerary. The student will either do a presentation about the person, place, or event during the group’s time on tour or

they will use this information to go through an attraction and learn about the chosen subject.

Flash Forward: Students flash forward into their future career path with a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical day

is like in some of the coolest jobs imaginable. Scientists, broadcasters, and musicians, just to name a few.

Cultural Cuisine: Students learn about the history and culture of a region through cuisine. Each city has different

ethnic neighborhoods that add character, culture, and history to the region.

Footsteps of Legends: The Program Director or Local Guide will talk about the historical events of a legend in history

as students retrace the footprints of history during their walking tour. Or role players dressed in historical costume will

recount history as it took place from their perspective.

Active Learning: The world around the students is brought to life with Active Learning. Activities such as Math

Challenge, Transportation Nation, or a Scavenger Hunt will be provided to make a city sightseeing tour or admission to a

museum more entertaining and interactive for students.

Experienced Program Directors. We set very high standards and dedicate a lot of time and effort to selecting Program Directors. Our Program Directors are some of the most experienced in the business, averaging almost 150 vacations each. Multilingual and highly educated, these professionals are dedicated to delivering an unforgettable travel experience.

STUDENT TRAVELWho are the Key Players?EDUCATOR. The primary focus of the educator is to enhance their students’ education and/or life experience. It is important to speak to the educator about what their students will learn from the travel experience. Educators want to talk with someone who “speaks their language” and understands the dimensions of student travel—itinerary, educational components, fundraising, safety, and security. Time is a precious commodity for educators. Entice the educator to leave the travel details in your expert hands so they can focus on the enrichment of their students and do what they do best—teach.

PARENT. One of the key considerations for a parent is the safety and security of their child. They want to know that the Tour Operator the group is using is reputable and that their child will be in good hands.

STUDENT. The student is the traveler whose enrichment is what all parties are striving to develop. They are savvy and research destinations and attractions that they will soon be experiencing. They are interested in where they will be traveling, what each day will look like, how much spending money they will need, and what to pack.
