INSPIRATION - FEMALE COSTUMEBy watching other examples of RnB music videos for songs about heartbreak, we found some similarities in regards to costumes and make-up. Rihanna's Take a Bow, Beyoncé's Me, Myself and I and Mary J Blige's Be Without You take a simplistic approach to the women's appearance in order to make the emotion the main focus.

As we do not want to overly sexualise our female protagonist, we will follow in these footsteps and dress her modestly with muted colours. However, we still want to show off her femininity - Rihanna, Beyoncé and Mary J Blige have achieved this by baring their shoulders.

INSPIRATION - MALE COSTUMEWe also looked at the wardrobe choices for male characters in the R&B genre. The love interest in Rihanna's video for Take A Bow is dressed casually which shows his laid-back attitude to life that led to him carelessly being unfaithful. This is similar to the male character in Beyoncé's Me, Myself and I video as he is dressed smartly to depict his narcissistic personality and relaxed view on life.

COSTUME: FEMALE PROTAGONIST

Outdoor performance scenes will be shot during the autumn so our outfit choice has to be weather appropriate. We want to continue using a relaxed theme with the clothes by using some loose fitting clothes but still maintaining some femininity with tight fitting jeans

Indoor performance shots will be simple as the female protagonist is finally free of stress and this will be expressed through her relaxed style.

MAKE-UP: FEMALE PROTAGONIST

We have taken inspiration from the examples of ballad music videos and kept the make-up simple to not distract from the passionate facial expressions made during performance shots.

We have added a twist with the winged eyeliner to keep the make-up look somewhat edgy but not so much that it makes the whole look too dramatic.

COSTUME: LOVE INTEREST& MALE FRIENDS

In terms of men's fashion, it is common for the R&B and rap genres to be combined. Men in R&B music videos are usually depicted to have a very casual fashion sense whilst still being trendy. This is often done through basic clothing and a statement accessory such as trainers as shown by rappers such as Kendrick Lamar. We will take inspiration from this for the love interest's costume as we want him to appear laid back yet still conscious of his appearance.

Day wearwear

An unbuttoned, tie-less suit suggests that the love interest and his friends are all well dressed yet relaxed men. This supports the idea of Tyler Noel's ex-partner being narcissistic without a care in the world if it does not concern himself. This will be worn during the poker scene to show that he spends all of his time away from Tyler Noel as he spends all day at work and goes out with his friends straight after
