More control over my $

What I

think

about the

NDIS

My Goals…

• Better equipment and a

new scooter

• Moving out of group home

• Having one on one

independent time

• My new plan – to get more

involved in meetings and

conferences like this NDS Regional Forum Coffs Harbour 2015

How the NDIS changed my life – 100%

Before NDIS I had no

individual support

More options and more

support

New opportunities

I employed staff for home

and my one on one

Challenges with NDIS

Not many for me…

• Mobility allowance

• Review took longer than expected

Other people have challenges…

• Some people find it hard to speak up about what

they want

• People don’t know enough about NDIS

My Plan

Tips on the NDIS

Be prepared

Learn all you can

Take planning stuff with you

Staff and organisations need to get on

board and help people learn about it – the

whole kit and caboodle.

My Final Messages

NDIS and HWNS have helped people in boarding houses be more

independent and live a normal life. These people are now being

counted but not just as a number.

NDIS – it’s here, it’s well overdue

and it’s a great thing!
