Merry Sinacore We are now into the summer and it has been a great time here. We have had good weather and are moving forward with painting and getting the Bocce Ball Courts re-done.

Here is a picture of Tom in the process of re-do-ing the courts. We also planted some brome-liad near the golf cart parking. They will make our community cozy.

We are near the time for the Storm Center Control to get into ac-tion. Your Block Cap-tains will be coming to your door to get information from you which the office will need. Please give them any info that has been changed, such as a new phone # or someone different who will be taking care of your home or family member who will be checking on you. We do appreciate your cooperation.

Pet Information Needed In order to be in compliance with all the rules and regula-tions and the Florida State Laws for Pets in our community, we are asking all residents who own pets, to submit to the office all updated information on your pet. Please include all certificates of vaccinations from your Veterinarian. If you have provided us with information on your pets, please make sure that all vaccinations and certificates are up to date and in compliance. We need to have a Rabies certif-icate that states your pet has had the Rabies vaccination required every two (2) years. On the next page is a copy of the Manatee County Animal Ordinance. Please read and understand the Fines associated with not being in compliance. Please submit this information to the office as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.

PV MessagesMANATEE COUNTY ANIMAL ORDINANCE

Animal Ordinance 12-10 Manatee County Animal Services has a new

animal ordinance which took effect May 12, 2014. We would like to provide the animal owners as well as the citizen of Manatee County a highlight of the ordinance. Rabies vaccinations are required for all dogs, cats and ferrets. A Manatee County license tag is required annually for dogs and cats, which they are required to wear. Ferrets are required to be licensed, but do not have to wear the tag. Dogs and cats are not allowed to run at large. Your dog or cat must be on a leash no longer than eight (8) feet in length when the dog or cat is off the property of the owner and must be under the physical control of the owner or custodian. All dogs and cats must be under the direct control of the owner or custodian while on the property of the owner or custodian. This means the dog or cat must be confined on the property by a fence (the ordinance does recog-nize invisible fences, provided they are in working order), chain, leash, or cord of sufficient strength to restrain the animal or the animal shall be attended and supervised by a competent person by hand or voice control when on the property of the owner or custodian or property the owner or custodian has the right to use. The ordinance requires pet owners to remove feces de-posited by their animal from any public property or private property of another. Animals are not allowed to be left in vehicles unattended. The extreme heat could kill your pet. Animals are also not allowed to be left in the open bed of a pickup truck or similar vehicle without being confined in a carrier or restrained by a minimum of two tethers, each attached to opposite side of the truck or other vehicle. If an animal owner is issued a citation, he or she can elect to pay the citation or contest it in court. The person cited is allowed 30 days to make this decision, however, after this time period, if the citation is not paid or contested, they no longer have the right to contest the citation and may end up in jail if the fine is not paid. RESOLUTION R-12-151 is a resolution of the Board of Man-atee County, Florida establishing specific fine amounts for certain violations of the Animal Services Ordinance 12-10. Unless specifically provided, any person cited for an in-fraction of the Ordinance shall pay a civil penalty of One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars for the first offense, Two Hun-dred ($200.00) Dollars for the second offense, and (300.00) Dollars for the third offense. The fines are designed to encourage responsible pet ownership and improve the safety of not only the animals, but the community as a whole.

Message from MHOA President, Regis Thorton

The season has come again, as many of our residents have left us behind to go north. We hope they all have a safe trip and can’t wait for their safe return to paradise. This is also the season for many of our family and friends to come south to visit us. I am taking this time to ask our residents to explain our rules to their visitors so as to help keep Plantation Village a safe place during their stay. One concern that was brought to our attention is the speed limit throughout the Village. Please slow down and watch out for our many residents who use the streets for walking, riding their bikes, exercising, driving their golf carts etc. Please also refrain from permitting children under the age of 16 to drive golf carts because this is not only a Plantation Village rule but a Florida State law. The BBQ area concrete work is finished and the area looks great. The Bocce court has been extended and leveled. Tom has been working very hard to make it the perfect Bocce court in the area. Work should be completed shortly. Thanks, Tom, for bringing your expertise to this project. As we all know, it is time for Hurricane Awareness season. Please check and make sure that you have either a red or yellow circle marker on the outside of your manufactured home. They were placed there last year to let First Respond-ers know if someone is a permanent (yellow) or seasonal (red) resident. If they are missing, please call me (412-491-0129) for your appropriate marker.

A Message from the Easter Bunny I have heard....and I have very good ears for hearing...... there has been quite a bit of discussion this past Easter season about who gets Easter Eggs and who does not. I want to let you know I do not have a “Good” or “Bad” list or super powers to whisk me up chimneys and through the night skies...like some other fella we know, so I do my best to remain a stealth celebrity of the Season, dropping eggs about the park. Now, if you are sitting by windows or in your lanai, OR folks come walking, biking, riding or driving by as I am near your home, OR you have a barking dog OR a security light that surprises and blinds me, there just may not be a delivery. For those of you who did find eggs, hope you enjoyed them and those who did not....maybe next year, all in the timing.

Respect As I am cutting my lawn I spy a pile of dog poo… Now, I just lost my loving dog so I am aware of how important our pets are to us…this, however, is not okay. Never did I leave residue from my dog in someone else’s lawn…you had to know your dog was on my lawn and left something there. We all need to respect each other’s property here. Please pick up after your dog as I am sure you would wish others to do in your yard. I cannot even imagine what you were thinking by just ignoring this…

More tips and lists to get you through STORM SEASON in July Voice

Here is a list of things that you can do to prepare for the storm season right now. It is never too early to start getting ready. 1. Make your Disaster Plan. There are special needs reg-

istries for both Medical needs or Transportation needs during a disaster.

2. Decide NOW where you would go if ordered to evacu-ate (e.g. stay with a friend/relative, stay at a hotel, use a public shelter, or leave the region as a last resort).

3. Check your Disaster Supply Kit and obtain any items you need.

4. Keep your home in good repair. Tack down loose shutters or lattice, keep gutters clean.

5. Purchase a battery-powered weather alert radio and a non-electric landline phone. Even though phone service may not be disturbed, cordless phones will not work during power outages. (have Power Packs for cell phones)

6. Inventory your property and possessions on paper and take a video survey of your property. Store with insur-ance and other important papers in a safe place and send a copy to a relative out of the area.

7. LISTEN TO LOCAL WEATHER EVERY DAY. Local stations also have special shows and lots of ideas on how to be prepared.

lems, feeding schedule and veterinarian information stored in a waterproof container (needed if you have to board your pets).

MEET YOUR NEIGHBORJIM TOMCzAk and kAY LUCzAk

Jim was born in Detroit, Michigan and Kay in Michigan’s upper peninsula in Ironwood. Despite both being native Michiganders they did not know each other before meeting in Plantation Village. Jim served four years in special forces in Viet Nam sur-viving everything that country could throw at him from enemy forces, tropical illnesses and the loneliness of being so far from home. After he left the service, he was hired by the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan working there for 30 years before retiring at age 55. Kay ran a con-struction company in Chicago and was also a successful entrepreneur running and owning 34 ceramic shops in Wisconsin. Jim has no children while Kay has a son and daughter, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Jim has been a PV resident since 2000 while Kay joined the community in 2003. If you’ve lived in PV long, you can probably remember seeing Jim working around the park doing yard work and various other jobs wearing a bandana on his forehead. Jim also looked after several snowbird residences when the owners went back north in the spring. However, all this came to a halt four years ago when Jim was struck by a massive heart attack losing the use of 70% of his heart. Since then he has dealt with several medical setbacks enduring much pain and anguish. Kay has become his full-time caregiver and companion. In his younger years Jim re-built a 1923 Model “T” into a muscle car and enjoyed attending car shows. He also owned a cabin cruiser and enjoyed spending time with re-mote controlled boats. For her hobbies Kay enjoys cooking, sewing and baking. Jim’s mobility is severely restricted now but if you happen to be going by #1 Cherry and see Jim sitting outside in his car port, stop in and spend a few minutes chatting with him, he’ll be glad to visit with you.


Activities in Rear ViewPotluck

Between 30 - 40 came to our Cinco de Mayo themed potluck in May. A variety of Mexican type dishes, taco fixins’, and more filled our plates and tummy’s! That ends the pot-lucks until September when the snowbirds start returning so watch the newsletter for when they start back up. Thank you to all my “helpers” who have pitched in with cleanup and to Roni for making sure the coffee is made! And of course to all of you that have come and brought all the delicious dishes.
