plato’s ideas of reality
DESCRIPTION
My TOK and Theatre ReflectionTRANSCRIPT
Plato’s ideas of reality (from a TOK lesson) – Prisoners were chained to chairs in a cave facing a wall. Behind them was a fire that cast light onto that wall. All those prisoners are able to see is the shadows cast upon that wall and this therefore becomes their reality. The playmakers however (ones casting the shadows) are able to distort the reality of the prisoners by making them see one object, when really it is another.
