San Jose State University Theatre Arts Department Mission Statement
The mission of the Theatre Arts Department is to prepare students for successful careers in performance and media. We see this as indistinguishable from our parallel mission: to nurture ethical, thinking, and compassionate human beings. Studying and producing dramatic performance in different media and in different cultural contexts prepares our students to participate in a highly complex society where their acquired skills in critical thinking, creativity, communication, group processes and cultural studies will serve their career objectives whether in the broadly defined fields of theatre and media or in other capacities.
Buddy Butler Director
Mr. Butler's extensive professional credits span numerous affiliations throughout America as well as internationally. His work in the United Kingdom has been seen at the London Palladium, the Thorndike Theatre in Leatherhead, the Sherman Theatre Centre in Cardiff, the Robin Hood in Nottingham, and at the Edinburgh Theatre FestivaL British television viewers will probably best remember his directorial work from the hit television series "Fame".
This evening's performance is a culmination of our semester of study abroad in Bath. We would like to thank the city and the people of Bath for their hospitality and continued support of this program.
