Summer Activities for 2011 Children and Young People’s Summer Activities in Coppull 2011 As part of their extended schools service Coppull Primary & Children's Centre, Coppull St John’s, Coppull Parish and Coppull St Oswald’s have again worked with ‘Get up and Go’ and other partners to develop a programme of activities for children and young people over the school holidays. Also, don’t forget to look at the Yarrow Valley timetable of activities on the back page of this leaflet for more things to do! Activities can be booked online at www.chorley.gov.uk/getupandgo (unless stated other- wise) or you can use the booking form inside the Chorley SMILE Magazine which is available at the beginning of July from Schools, the Leisure Centre or the Library. Each School is running a session to help with bookings check out when with your school. As part of their extended schools service

Coppull Primary & Children's Centre, Coppull St John’s,

Coppull Parish and Coppull St Oswald’s have again

worked with ‘Get up and Go’ and other partners to

develop a programme of activities for children and

young people over the school holidays. Also, don’t

forget to look at the Yarrow Valley timetable of

activities on the back page of this leaflet for more

things to do!

Activities can be booked online at

www.chorley.gov.uk/getupandgo (unless stated other-

wise) or you can use the booking form inside the Chorley

SMILE Magazine which is available at the beginning of

July from Schools, the Leisure Centre or the Library.

Each School is running a session to help with bookings –

check out when with your school.

Coppull Young People’s Services

The Young People’s Service are hosting a range of

activities for young people throughout the summer . There

Family Fun Day!

On Saturday 16th July, Coppull Children’s

Centre is hosting a ‘Family Fun Day’ from 10am—3pm.

There will be activities for children aged 0-5 years so

come along and join in the fun!

During the school summer holidays Coppull Children’s Centre has various activities

for you and your children to come along to.

All of our activities are FREE and there is NO need to book.

Circus Stars at Coppull Library

This summer you can be part of the entertainment that will take

you out of this world! Stop off at Coppull Library and sign up to join the Circus Stars

1st — 6th August

BMX CAMP 1st – 5th August

Coppull/Chisnall BMX Track

11am – 3pm each day. For ages 8 – 14. £25 for the

week.

BOOKING REQUIRED THROUGH GET UP AND GO.

Learn skills and top tips about bike riding and bike

maintenance whilst having the unique chance to ride on a

professional BMX track. Prepare yourself through the

week for fun races and competitions. Prizes to be won!

Must bring packed lunch. Bikes, Helmets and Pads are

all provided.

Play Day 2011

Coronation Recreation Ground

Wednesday 3rd August 11am - 3pm

FREE FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY.

Wednesday 31st August from 11am – 3pm

FREE AND NO BOOKING REQUIRED

A great day for all families with children under the age of 11.

Come down and enjoy a host of different attractions including

Amusement Rides, Donkey Rides, Punch & Judy, Arts and Crafts and

Fun Giant Games. Astley Hall will also be open, plus lots more fun

activities for you to enjoy!

Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Partnership event with Chorley Borough Council, Chorley Children’s

Centre’s and Homestart.

Geocaching

Come down to Yarrow Valley and learn basic navigation skills and how to use a GPS

completing Geocache’s as you go. Packed lunch and suitable outdoor clothing

2nd, 9th August.

day, 10-12pm AND

Junior Fishing Coaching

Join the rangers and fishing coaches to learn the basics—you may get hooked!

Sessions aimed at complete beginners who have not attended these sessions

before. All equipment is provided. BOOK THROUGH GET UP & GO. Do not book

unless you can attend all three sessions. Ages 8+ Must attend all 3 sessions.

Friday 5th August

10am – 12pm

Tiny Trekkers at Yarrow

Parents are invited to join the rangers for this walk which will get away from ‘pram

friendly’ routes where possible. Baby carriers and stout footwear essential. Front

and back carriers are available to borrow on the day. NO NEED TO BOOK. If a

carrier is required please contact Duke St Children’s Centre on 01257 276253.

Monday 8th August

1pm – 3pm

Look After Your Insects

Join the rangers at Astley Park and make insect hotels that you can take home and

put in your garden for insects to live in. This is a drop in family session with NO

NEED TO BOOK. Last arrival 2.30pm.

Monday 15th August

1pm – 3pm

Grassland Safari

Join the rangers for a grassland safari on the meadow. This is a family session.

Suitable footwear required. BOOK THROUGH GET UP & GO. Meet at the

Visitors Centre.

Tuesdays 16th, 23rd

Always wanted to have a go at fishing but don’t know where to start? Join the

rangers and fishing coaches to learn the basics – you may get hooked! Session

European Bat Night Walk at Yarrow

South Lancs Bat Group returns to help you catch a glimpse of these fascinating
