others groups of children as long as this does not harm
others or stop others from enjoying their rights

Right: Every child has the right to an education that respects
and develops their personality and abilities
Responsibility:
1. Attend school
2. To make the most of their education (be a good student and do your work)
3. Respect the abilities of others

Friends
Right: Every child has the right to have friends that they
can talk too, play together and treat each other nicely
Responsibility:
1. To choose the right friends
2. Be respectful to each other—listen, kind, (what are some other ways ?)
3. Be aware that friendships can change i.e. change schools, hobbies or
sporting teams, move away

Loving Family
Right: Every child has the right to grow up in a loving family
who support them
Responsibility:
1. To be loved and support
2. To support and care for your family
3. To appreciate your family (not all children are raised in a family)

To Be Safe
Right: Every child has the right to feel safe, live in a safe
environment and be protected from neglect and abuse
Responsibility:
1. Respect your family’s decisions to keep your safe i.e. games, computer
2. To help others feel safe and protected i.e. little brothers, sisters, cousins
3. To keep yourself safe i.e. If you feel unsafe, you have the right to go and
tell someone until you feel safe again

FOOD
Water & Food
Right: Every child has the right to the best health care pos-
sible, safe water to drink, nutritious food, a clean and safe
environment, and information to help you stay well
Responsibility:
1. To not wasted food or water
2. To eat healthy
3. To appreciate prepared home cooked meals and say thank you
CLOTHING
Clothing
Right: Every child has the right to adequate clothing to
keep them warm and cool, and the right clothing (school &
sporting uniforms), including shoes
Responsibility:
1. To look after the clothing you have been given
2. Wear your clothes respectfully
3. To appreciate the clothes purchased by your family
