Our Oval We have our site meeting!!

The design company and DET will attend our school on Monday 27 March to establish the timelines for the oval work. I reported to School Council on Wednesday evening that DET had told me that the pricing of the project needed to be reworked and approval for the funding increase granted - to take into account the greater amount of soil treatment required (some 8000 tonnes of soil need treatment to reduce the volatility) as specified in the geo tech report.

Without the soil treatment, the synthetic surface would be torn apart by the movement of the subterranean soil within 6-8 months – so we’re glad they are doing the works properly. We are all doing our best trying to be patient in the meantime.

School Council At our Annual Reporting Meeting of School Council last night, we looked at the 2016 school year and also ratified our Annual Report (which will be available on our school website by March 31 2017). We elected our Office Bearers for the 2017 school year – congratulations to these parents and our thanks for their efforts on behalf of all of our kids:

School Council President – Katy (Adele, Hamish and Maddy)

School Council Vice President – Susan (Jessica)

School Council Finance Committee Member – Adele (Olivia and Alexander)

Easter Raffle Thanks to the families which have answered the call from our Fundraising Team and have donated Easter goodies (e.g. chocolate eggs) for our Easter Raffle. Raffle tickets have been sent home, with more available from the Office. The raffle draw will happen at the final Assembly for Term 1, Friday 31 March at 2 pm. The children are invited to create Easter Bonnets at home to wear at the special morning Assembly on Friday 31 March – families welcome to come and join in.

Attendance … Every Day Counts

Did you know that:

If your child has missed 5 days or less this school year.

This will support your child to achieve their best at school – academically and personally.

If your child has missed more than 10 days this school year.

The amount of time your child is missing will impact on their learning and their friendships.

If your child has missed more than 15 days this school year.

Your child is missing so much time from school that it will be extremely difficult for them to keep up with their learning, their friendships and to feel connected to school.

Each week at Assembly, we recognise the classes who hae the most punctual students and we also acknowledge the classes who have the greatest student attendance. This information is then shared in our fortnightly newsletter.

Congratulations to these classes for having perfectly punctual classes –

Happy Birthday to you!

We love celebrating birthdays at school, making a fuss over the child who is celebrating and birthday cup-cakes are always welcome! We also love for birthday children to visit us in the Office for a sticker and birthday song.

Having birthdays at school is a very special event and if your child is absent on their birthday, they miss out on all the fuss made over them.

OSH Club News Before School / After School Care Program

Program Update

This fortnight in OSH Club we have been very busy learning about different cultures. We made lanterns, necklaces etc. If anyone has any ideas of cool cultural activities for children, please let

us know.

Friendly reminders: PLEASE ensure that if your child/ren are booked into OSH Club that they are NOT booked on the school bus. This is very important as if your child does not remember to go to OSH Club they may

end up leaving the school on the bus.

If your child is due to be absent or needs to be booked in on late notice (less than 24 hours) please ensure you call and leave a message to ensure we have adequate staffing.

Term 4 and 1 are Sun Smart terms we require hats for children to be able to adequately participate in outdoor play, please send you child with a hat for OSH Club, if you wish to leave it at OSH Club

please hand it named to a staff member (doesn’t have to be a school hat).

Thankyou from the OSH Club Team!
