2015 Entry Guidelines
CONTEST THEME: Students will describe what they would do to improve their city if they were mayor for a day. Essays will need to focus on any of the City’s priorities: infrastructure, financial sustainability, maturing neighborhoods, community safety, public service excellence and environmental resources.
CONTEST RULES:
Essays are limited to 100 words or less, excluding title and student’s name.
Entries must include student’s name, school and teacher at the top of their essay.
A signed waiver (either original or scanned copy) must accompany each entry. An electronic copy of the waiver is available at: cityofhenderson.com/neighborhood-services

JUDGING CRITERIA Judging will be done by City of Henderson staff based on spelling, grammar, originality and subject relevancy.
AWARDS: The five winning essays will be announced on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.
All students who enter the contest will receive a certificate of participation from Mayor Andy Hafen.
The winning students will be invited to a catered meal with Mayor Hafen and receive a $50 gift certificate to the Galleria at Sunset. In addition, they will read their essays and be recognized by Mayor Hafen and City Council at the December 1, 2015, City Council meeting. At that time they will be presented with a plaque.
