A Division 15 & 19 STEM Activity: Grade 1 and K buddies first looked at a couple of sample catapults. They then thought about the materials that they would use. They had a choice of elastics, craft sticks, multi-sized metal clips, plastic spoons, clothes pegs. They drew and labelled a design. This required a lot of talking and cooperation in terms of selection of materials and the design. When the design was complete, they began to construct the catapult. They had an opportunity to test it out in the classroom and to make any changes they felt were needed. The next day, we went outside to launch Lucky Charms (in honour of St Patrick's Day)!

Spuds in Tubs Divisions 12, 15, 17

Students in Mrs Stewart, Mrs Whyte Ms Thompson’s

classes are beginning a spring inquiry about plants and

where our food comes from through participation in the Spuds in Tubs program. Mrs Stewart’s class began their inquiry this week using the

scientific skills such of observing and questioning.

Our seed potatoes are planted! We wonder what

we’ll notice when we return from Spring Break!
