Writing features
This week, I want to press pause on our writing, and revisit some of the key features of our writing in Year
5. All of this week’s tasks will look similar to ‘toolkit’ lessons, and will include an ‘acquire/refine’ and a
‘practise/apply’
Use a co-ordinate or subordinate conjunction to add another main clause to the ones below (don’t forget when a comma is needed...
Children from Totley don’t need to eat…(co-ordinate conjunction) Mr Cooper hadn’t cut his hair for 7 weeks…(subordinate conjunction) Only dragons with a full medical record can cross the border…(subordinate conjunction) Planet Cooper is surrounded by a poisonous gas…(subordinate conjunction) Many birds migrate to different areas of Africa…(co-ordinate conjunction) The hyper drive on most Jumpstar Z-300s are not reliable…(co-ordinate conjunction)

Music Appreciation
We’ve done this before, and the discussion and ideas were amazing!
Grab a piece of paper, a pencil and/or some colours.
Listen to each piece of music individually, and start drawing, doodling or even writing what it makes
you think or what images you get in your mind.
Once you have finished one, label some key parts of your doodle/drawing and make a little note of
why you did it. Why that colour? Why that object or scene? Why that scribble or dot?
