Network servicesTo use the phone you must have service from a wirelessservice provider. Many of the features require specialnetwork features. These features are not available on alnetworks; other networks may require that you makespecific arrangements with your service provider beforeyou can use the network services. Shared memoryThe following features in this device may share memorymultimedia messaging (MMS), e-mail application, instanmessaging. Use of one or more of these features may

reduce the memory available for the remaining featuressharing memory. Your device may display a message thathe memory is full when you try to use a shared memoryfeature. In this case, delete some of the information orentries stored in the shared memory features beforecontinuing.

Access codesThe security code helps to protect your phone againstunauthorised use. You can create and change the code, anset the phone to request the code. Keep the code secretand in a safe place separate from your phone. If you forgethe code and your phone is locked, your phone will requir

service and additional charges may apply. For moreinformation, contact a Nokia Care point or your phonedealer.

The PIN code supplied with the SIM card protects the caragainst unauthorized use. The PIN2 code supplied withsome SIM cards is required to access certain services. If yoenter the PIN or PIN2 code incorrectly three times in

succession, you are asked for the PUK or PUK2 code. If yodo not have them, contact your service provider.

The module PIN is required to access the information in thsecurity module of your SIM card. The signing PIN may brequired for the digital signature. The barring password required when using the call barring service.

2. Get started

Install SIM card and batteryAlways switch the device off and disconnect the charger

before removing the battery.The SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged byscratches or bending, so be careful when handling,inserting, or removing the card.

1. Slide the release button (1), and remove the back cove(2).

2. Remove the battery (3), and insert the SIM card (4).

3. Insert the battery (5), and replace the back cover (6).

Pull the handle toward the bottom of the phone, andremove the SIM card.

Charge the batteryYour battery has been precharged, but the charging levemay vary.

1. Connect the charger to a wall outlet.

2. Connect the charger to the device. Youcan use your device while it is charging.

3. When the battery is fully charged,disconnect the charger from thedevice, then from the wall outlet.

If the battery is completely discharged, it may take severminutes before the charging indicator appears on thedisplay or before any calls can be made.

Antenna

Your device may have internal and externalantennas. As with any radio transmitting

device, avoid touching the antenna areaunnecessarily while the antenna istransmitting or receiving. Contact with such anantenna affects the communication quality and may causthe device to operate at a higher power level thanotherwise needed and may reduce the battery life.

The figure shows the antenna area marked in grey.

Headset

Warning: Listen to music at a moderate level.Continuous exposure to high volume may damage your

hearing. Do not hold the device near your ear when theloudspeaker is in use, because the volume may beextremely loud.

Warning: When you use the headset, your abilityto hear outside sounds may be affected. Do not use theheadset where it can endanger your safety.

When connecting any external device or any headset, othethan those approved by Nokia for use with this device, tthe Nokia AV Connector, pay special attention to volumelevels.

Do not connect products that create an output signal asthis may cause damage to the device. Do not connect an

voltage source to the Nokia AV Connector.

Magnets and magnetic fieldsKeep your device away from magnets or magnetic fields athey may cause some applications, such as the camera, tactivate unexpectedly.

Keypad lockTo prevent accidental keypresses, close the phone, andselect Lock within 5 seconds to lock the keypad.

To unlock the keypad, select Unlock > OK, or open thephone. If the security keyguard is on, enter the securitycode when requested.

To set the keypad to lock automatically after a preset timwhen the phone is in the standby mode, select Menu >Settings > Phone > Automatic keyguard > On.

3. Calls

Make and answer a callTo make a call, enter the phone number, including the

country code and area code if necessary. Press the call keto call the number. Scroll up to increase or down todecrease the volume of the earpiece or headset during thphone call.

To answer an incoming call, press the call key. To reject thcall without answering, press the end key.

LoudspeakerIf available, you may select Loudsp. or Handset to use thloudspeaker or the earpiece of the phone during a call.

Warning: Do not hold the device near your earwhen the loudspeaker is in use, because the volume may

be extremely loud.

Dialling shortcutsTo assign a phone number to one of the number keys, 2 t9, select Menu > Contacts > Speed dials, scroll to adesired number, and select Assign. Enter the desired

phone number, or select Search and a saved contact.To switch the speed dialling function on, select Menu >Settings > Call > Speed dialling > On.

4. Write text

Text modesTo enter text (for example, when writing messages) you

can use traditional or predictive text input.When you write text, press and hold Options to switch

between traditional text input, indicated by , and

predictive text input, indicated by . Not all languageare supported by predictive text input.

The character cases are indicated by , , and .

To change the character case, press #. To change from th

letter to number mode, indicated by , press and hold#, and select Number mode. To change from the numbeto the letter mode, press and hold #.

To set the writing language, select Options > Writinglanguage.

Traditional text inputPress a number key, 2-9, repeatedly until the desiredcharacter appears. The available characters depend on thselected writing language.

If the next letter you want is located on the same key as

the present one, wait until the cursor appears, and entethe letter.

To access the most common punctuation marks and specicharacters, press 1 repeatedly. To access the list of specicharacters, press *.

Predictive text inputPredictive text input is based on a built-in dictionary towhich you can also add new words.

1. Start writing a word, using the keys 2 to 9. Press eackey only once for one letter.

2. To confirm a word, scroll right or add a space.

●If the word is not correct, press * repeatedly, andselect the word from the list.

● If the ? character is displayed after the word, theword you intended to write is not in the dictionarTo add the word to the dictionary, select Spell. Entethe word using traditional text input, and selectSave.

● To write compound words, enter the first part of thword, and scroll right to confirm it. Write the lastpart of the word, and confirm the word.

5. Navigate the menusThe phone functions are grouped into menus. Not all menfunctions or option items are described here.

In the standby mode, select Menu and the desired menuand submenu. Select Exit or Back to exit the current leveof menu. Press the end key to return to the standby moddirectly. To change the menu view, select Menu >Options > Main menu view.

6. MessagingYou can read, write, send, and save text, multimedia,audio, and flash messages, and e-mail. The messagingservices can only be used if your network or service

provider supports them.

Text and multimedia messagesYou can create a message and optionally attach, forexample, a picture. Your phone automatically changes atext message to a multimedia message when a file is

attached.Text messagesYour device supports text messages beyond the limit forsingle message. Longer messages are sent as two or mormessages. Your service provider may charge accordinglyCharacters with accents or other marks, and characters

from some language options, take up more space, and limthe number of characters that can be sent in a singlemessage.

An indicator at the top of the display shows the totalnumber of characters left and the number of messagesneeded for sending.

Before you can send any text or SMS e-mail messages, yomust save your message centre number. Select Menu >Messaging > Message settings > Text messages >

Message centres > Add centre, enter a name, and thenumber from the service provider.

Multimedia messagesA multimedia message can contain text, pictures, and

sound or video clips.

Only devices that have compatible features can receive andisplay multimedia messages. The appearance of amessage may vary depending on the receiving device.

The wireless network may limit the size of MMS messageIf the inserted picture exceeds this limit the device may

make it smaller so that it can be sent by MMS.

Important: Exercise caution when openingmessages. Messages may contain malicious software orotherwise be harmful to your device or PC.

For availability and subscription to the multimedia

messaging service (MMS), contact your service provider.You may also download the configuration settings. See"Nokia support", p. 13.

Create a text or multimedia message1. Select Menu > Messaging > Create message >

Message.

2. To add recipients, scroll to the To: field, and enter threcipient’s number or e-mail address, or select Add tselect recipients from the available options. Select

4. To attach content to the message, scroll to the

attachment bar at the bottom of the display and selethe desired type of content.

Service providers may charge differently depending on thmessage type. Check with your service provider for detail

E-mailAccess your POP3 or IMAP4 e-mail account with your phonto read, write, and send e-mail. This e-mail application i

different from the SMS e-mail function.Before you can use e-mail, you must have an e-mailaccount and the correct settings. To check the availabilitand the settings of your e-mail account, contact your e-mail service provider. You may receive the e-mailconfiguration settings as a configuration message.

E-mail setup wizardThe e-mail setup wizard starts automatically if no e-maisettings are defined in the phone. To start the setup wizar

for an additional e-mail account, select Menu >Messaging and the existing e-mail account. SelectOptions > Add mailbox to start the e-mail setup wizardFollow the instructions on the display.

Write and send an e-mailTo write an e-mail, select Menu > Messaging > Creatmessage > E-mail message. To attach a file to the e-mail, select Options > Insert. To send the e-mail, pressthe call key. Select the desired account if necessary.

Download e-mail

Important: Exercise caution when openingmessages. Messages may contain malicious software orotherwise be harmful to your device or PC.

To select the retrieve mode, select Menu > Messaging Message settings > E-mail messages > Edit

mailboxes and the desired mailbox, and Downloadingsett. > Retrieve mode.

To download e-mail, select Menu > Messaging and thedesired mailbox; confirm the query for connection if necessary.

Flash messagesFlash messages are text messages that are instantlydisplayed upon reception.

1. To write a flash message, select Menu > Messaging Create message > Flash message.

2. Enter the recipient’s phone number, write yourmessage (maximum 70 characters), and select Send.

Nokia Xpress audio messagesCreate and send an audio message using MMS in aconvenient way.

1. Select Menu > Messaging > Create message >Audio message. The voice recorder opens.

2. Record your message.3. Enter one or more phone numbers in the To: field, or

select Add to retrieve a number.

4. To send the message, select Send.

Instant messaging

With instant messaging (IM, network service) you can senshort text messages to online users. You must subscribe ta service and register with the IM service you want to usCheck the availability of this service, pricing, andinstructions with your service provider. The menus mayvary depending on your IM provider.

To connect to the service, select Menu > Messaging >IMs and follow the instructions on the display.

7. ContactsSelect Menu > Contacts.

You can save names and phone numbers in the phone

memory and SIM card memory. In the phone memory, yocan save contacts with numbers and text items. Names annumbers saved in the SIM card memory are indicated by

To add a contact, select Names > Options > Add newcontact. To add details to a contact, ensure that thememory in use is either Phone or Phone and SIM. SelecNames, scroll to the name, and select Details >Options > Add detail.

To search for a contact, select Names, and scroll throughthe list of contacts or enter the first letters of the name.

To copy a contact between the phone memory and SIM car

memory, select Names, scroll to the contact, and selectOptions > Copy contact. In the SIM card memory, you casave only one phone number for each name.

To select the SIM card or phone memory for your contactto select how the names and numbers in contacts aredisplayed, and to view the memory capacity for contactsselect Settings.

You can send and receive a person's contact informationas a business card from a compatible device that suppor

ProfilesYour phone has various setting groups called profiles,

which you can customise with ringing tones for differenevents and environments.

Select Menu > Settings > Profiles, the desired profileand from the following options:

● Activate — to activate the selected profile● Personalise — to change the profile settings●

Timed — to set the profile to be active for a certaintime. When the time set for the profile expires, theprevious profile that was not timed becomes active.

TonesYou can change the tone settings of the selected activeprofile.

Set up a Bluetooth connection

Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Bluetoothand take the following steps:

PC connection to the internet

Battery and charger informationYour device is powered by a rechargeable battery. The

Nokia Corporation (“Nokia”) provides this LimitedWarranty to person who has purchased the Nokiaproduct(s) included in the sales package (“Product”).

ThLimited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in thecountry where you have purchased the Product providedthat it is intended for sale in that country.

Warranty periodThe warranty period starts at the time of Product's originpurchase by the first end-user. The Product may consist oseveral different parts and different parts may be covereby a different warranty period (hereinafter “WarrantyPeriod”). The different Warranty Periods are:

a) twelve (12) months for the mobile device andaccessories (whether included in the mobile device salespackage or sold separately) other than the consumable

parts and accessories listed in (b) and (c) below;b) six (6) months for the following consumable parts andaccessories: batteries, chargers, desk stands, headsets,cables and covers; and

c) ninety (90) days for the media on which any software provided, for example, CD-ROM or memory card

However, repaired part(s) will be warranted for theremainder of the original Warranty Period or for sixty (60days from the date of repair, whichever is longer.

How to get warranty service

If you wish to make a claim under the Limited Warranty,you may call the Nokia call centre (where this is availableand please note national rates apply to calls) and/or whernecessary, return your Product or the affected part (if it inot the entire Product) to a Nokia care centre or Nokiadesignated service location. Information about Nokia carcentres, Nokia designated service locations and Nokia cacentres can be found at local Nokia web pages whereavailable.

You must return your Product or the affected part (if it isnot the entire Product) to a Nokia care centre or Nokiadesignated service location before the expiry of theWarranty Period.

When making a Limited Warranty claim you have topresent: a) the Product (or affected part thereto), b) thelegible and unmodified original proof of purchase, whichclearly indicates the name and address of the seller, thedate and place of purchase, the product type and the IMEor other serial number.

This Limited Warranty extends only to the original firstend-user of the Product and is not assignable ortransferable to any subsequent purchaser/end-user.

What is not covered?1. This Limited Warranty does not cover user manuals orany third party software, settings, content, data or links,whether included/downloaded in the Product, whether

included during installment, assembly, shipping or at another time in the delivery chain or otherwise and in anyway acquired by you. To the extent permitted by applicablaw(s), Nokia does not warrant that any Nokia software wmeet your requirements, will work in combination withany hardware or software applications provided by a thirparty, that the operation of the software will be

uninterrupted or error free or that any defects in thesoftware are correctable or will be corrected.

2. This Limited Warranty does not cover a) normal wearand tear (including, without limitation, wear and tear ofcamera lenses, batteries or displays), b) transport costs, defects caused by rough handling (including, withoutlimitation, defects caused by sharp items, by bending,

compressing or dropping, etc.), d) defects or damagecaused by misuse of the Product, including use that iscontrary to the instructions provided by Nokia (e.g. as seout in the Product's user guide) and/or e) other acts beyonthe reasonable control of Nokia.

3. This Limited Warranty does not cover defects or allege

defects caused by the fact that the Product was used witor connected to, a product, accessories, software and/orservice not manufactured, supplied or authorised by Noki

or was used otherwise than for its intended use. Defectscan be caused by viruses from your or from a third partyunauthorised access to services, other accounts, computesystems or networks. This unauthorised access can takeplace through hacking, password-mining or through avariety of other means.

4. This Limited Warranty does not cover defects caused bthe fact that the battery has been short-circuited or by thfact that the seals of the battery enclosure or the cells arbroken or show evidence of tampering or by the fact thathe battery has been used in equipment other than thos

for which it has been specified.5. This Limited Warranty does not apply if the Product habeen opened, modified or repaired by anyone other thaan authorised service centre, if it is repaired usingunauthorised spare parts or if the Product’s serial numbethe mobile accessory date code or the IMEI number hasbeen removed, erased, defaced, altered or are illegible iany way and this shall be determined in the sole discretioof Nokia.

Other important noticesA third party, independent operator provides the SIM carand cellular and/or other network or system on which thProduct operates. Therefore, Nokia will not accept

responsibility under this warranty for the operation,availability, coverage, services or range of the cellular orother network or system. Before the Product can berepaired or replaced, the operator may need to unlock anSIM-lock or other lock that may have been added to lockthe product to a specific network or operator. AccordinglNokia does not accept responsibility for any delays in

warranty repairs or for the inability of Nokia to completewarranty repairs that are caused by the operator's delay ofailure to unlock any SIM-lock or other lock.

Please remember to make backup copies or keep writtenrecords of all important content and data stored in yourProduct, because content and data may be lost duringrepair or replacement of the Product. Nokia, in a manne

consistent with the provisions of the section entitled“Limitation of Nokia's Liability” below, to the extentpermitted by applicable law(s), shall not under anycircumstances be liable, either expressly or implied, for andamages or losses of any kind whatsoever resulting fromloss of, damage to, or corruption of, content or data durinrepair or replacement of the Product.

All parts of the Product or other equipment that Nokia hareplaced shall become the property of Nokia. If the

returned Product is found not to be covered by the termand conditions of the Limited Warranty, Nokia and itsauthorised service companies reserve the right to chargea handling fee. When repairing or replacing the Product,Nokia may use products or parts that are new, equivalento new or reconditioned.

Your Product may contain country specific elements,including software. If the Product has been re-exportedfrom its original destination country to another country,the Product may contain country specific elements that arnot considered to be a defect under this Limited Warrant

Limitation of Nokia's liabilityThis Limited Warranty is your sole and exclusive remedyagainst Nokia and Nokia's sole and exclusive liability inrespect of defects in your Product. However, this LimitedWarranty shall neither exclude nor limit i) any of your leg(statutory) rights under the applicable national laws or i
