Prince Mohammad University’s mission is to achieve the following objectives:

•To contribute to the advancement of human intelligence and promulgation and development of knowledge.

•To prepare candidates in various fields of human knowledge through utilizing modern technologies in the educational process.

•To transform the graduate to play a pioneering and leading role in the community, enabling him or her to take responsibilities and contribute to solving problems through innovative thinking, collective work, reflection and self-development.

•To link academic programs and specializations with actual requirements of the surrounding work environment. This will be achieved by maintaining effective participation and cooperation between the University and local business firm.

•To guide research activities to create solutions for persistent problems in surrounding communities, through applied research and technical consultation.

•To provide community service through continuous training and education

TEIC IT Mission

In order to achieve its vision of a technology-enabled, learning-centered environment, the PMU will develop a set of core technology competencies and areas of expertise:

•Infuse information and educational technologies into all curricula and learning programs.•Ensure that the university administration will utilize an integrated management information system.•Incorporate IT into the facility design.•Focus IT services on employing contemporary technologies that keep up with the world's changing technology environment.

TEIC IT Vision

PMU is synonymous with and identified as the leading IT-based institution in the international region. The ultimate goal of this technology vision is to make it possible for the PMU to create a learning-centered environment.

The infusion of technology into the university environment will enable students to obtain the information they need, when and where they need it, so they can effectively pursue their goals of academic excellence and professional competencies.

TEIC IT Values and Principles

This vision is supported by underlying values and principles:Information technology serves the mission of the university.

•To the extent possible, IT will preserve Saudi values.•IT will serve to help protect intellectual property.•IT will be convenient, high-quality, and user-friendly.•IT will not consume an inappropriate portion of the PMUs budget.

Though central to distinguishing the university from other institutions in the Kingdom, technology at PMU will never be an end unto itself. Technology will be a tool that assists students in building their professional competencies, abilities in critical thinking, skills in problem solving, and dedication to leadership and teamwork.

Achievement of TEIC IT Goals (2006-2011)

•Goal 1: Respected and advanced Saudi cultural values in a changing learning environment.

•Goal 2: Provided students with the superior technology infrastructure that has equipped them with the technology skills to function in the current and emerging working environments.

•Goal 3: Provided faculty with the superior technology infrastructure that enables them to excel in the delivery of effective instruction.

•Goal 4: Provided administrators with a cost effective, flexible, reliable, and secure IT environment that meets the business needs of the university.

IT SWOT Analysis 2011: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats

•After revisiting the goals set for IT by TEIC at the University’s founding and assessing progress made towards achieving those goals (2006-2011), the core IT leadership team performed a SWOT analysis at Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University to provide a framework for the next phase of IT strategic planning at PMU.

•A candid assessment of internal strengths and weaknesses forms the basis for taking advantage of external opportunities and minimizing the potential impact of external threats.

•Inputs into the SWOT analysis include the 2010 EDUCAUSE Survey of Top IT Issues and the New Media Consortium/ELI Consortium 2011 Horizon Report.
