Well we made it through a very busy November! The “working” volunteers enjoyed a night

of food & fun at Visani’s; some Painted With a Punch; many heard the beautiful voices of

the Sarasota Opera Singers; member birthday featured Military Memorabilia; some of us golfed in an outing; many dined on

turkey at our Italian Thanksgiving; many members walked or rode the Gondola in Venice’s Holiday Parade; an enthusiastic

crowd attended “Who Killed Miss IACV” and all the usual activities continued too. Italian classes, card games, mahjong, bocce,

prepping & serving Friday dinners! Military Veterans, numbering 213, were treated to a free dinner on Nov. 9th! What a turn-

out, well deserved. The Club continues to thrive & the December meeting brings election of the 2019 executive board. Those

eligible to vote will make their choices or usher in those unopposed. Thank you to Joe DiMarco for stepping to the plate to

manage the kitchen since we sadly lost our dear Joe Carbone. Remember to come to the Christmas Member Pot Luck Birthday

& pass the word along to friends with children/grandchildren about our complimentary Christmas Party. Enjoy a safe holiday

at the Nov.1st General membership meeting, as follows:

According to the By Laws of 4/15/18, Article XII

Sec.1,Item G states: The election will be held at the

December General Meeting & shall be held by secret

ballot, in the Columbus room.

Roberts Rules state: if the bylaws require the election

of officers to be by ballot & there is only one nominee

for an office, the ballot must nevertheless be taken

for that office, unless the bylaws provide for an ex-

ception in such a case. Our bylaws do not provide an

exception, therefore there will be a secret ballot

election on December 6th. There will be a provision

for Write-In candidates for each office.

To Kathy & the family on Joe Carbone’s

passing on Nov.7th. In his own words, Joe said: “ My life was full, one filled with love, laughter, friends and my cherished family.” He regarded the IACV as part of his amazing family. He loved the Club & he could be found there any given day, ordering supplies, checking the building, running the kitchen, testing the product, doing/attending special events and serving on the Executive Board. Joe was a valuable committed member & will be sorely missed. RIP Joe. Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at the Club on Wednesday, Dec 5th at 6pm. All welcome...Join us for dessert & refreshments. Share your stories of Joe with our members & his family too!

NOV. 11th: Member Birthday/Anniversary party was attended by

92 enthusiastic people! Several Snowbirds have returned, nice to

see them. Delicious dinner, special Chicken, salads, fixings & of

course, yummy cake was on the menu. One of the best meals yet!

Saturday Nov. 3rd: IACV Volunteer Appreciation

dinner was held at Visani’s . 89 volunteers & guests were

treated to a great meal & also entertained by the stand-up

comedians! It was a delightful evening with lots of laughs

& good fun! Thank you all for your hours of dedication to

the club. Kudos to Donna Sherman & to her helper, Vi

Giancola, as well as to Ray Sherman for taking lots of

photos. Our next Appreciation Dinner is planned for

March. Date TBD. (Invitation only to qualified volunteers)

The outside fridge has been refurbished & looks like new. It provides much needed

refrigeration space for the many products used at the Club.

The renovation of the Ladies Restroom has been completed. It has been transformed!

It is now modern, colorful & greatly adds to the comfort of our members & patrons.

A new book has been added to the library that is very interesting:

“Beneath A Scarlett Sky” by Mark Sullivan, is based on a true story of one young man’s

incredible courage during one of history’s darkest hours nearing the end of WW II in

Milan, Italy before April 25th, 1945 which marked the end of the war.

Please inform Marino, our Bibliotecario, of any donation of books so he can make a note of it & put it in

the right place. You are encouraged to check out the many fine books that are available for your reading

The Diane Houston Memorial Golf Outing on Nov. 15th, 2018 was a real success with

40 golfers enjoying 18 holes, a delicious lunch, some libations, raffles & prizes back at

the Club. All participants were winners since each received a special hat

to commemorate Diane Houston.

Kudos to Joe Bird, organizer extraordinaire & helpers including

Tom Martorana, Marino Roncari, Pasquale Santaguida, Johanna

Giordano, Ed Marinak (raffle prizes), Steve Fornadel, Mike Matarelli,

IACV Board, Starling Buick & Bob Houston.
