CDC COVID-19 Critical Priorities

• Engage & encourage everyone in the school & community to

practice preventive behaviors that support schools’ safe reopening

• Implement multiple SARS-CoV-2 mitigation strategies - social

distancing, cloth face coverings, hand hygiene, etc.

• Communicate, educate & reinforce appropriate hygiene & social

distancing practices for students, teachers & staff

• Integrate SARS-CoV-2 mitigation strategies into co-curricular and

extracurricular activities

• Maintain healthy environments - cleaning & disinfecting frequently

CDC COVID-19 Guidelines (Current as of July 23, 2020)

• Maintain social/physical distancing of 6 feet as much as possible

• Wash hands frequently with soap & water for at least 20

seconds

• Use a hand sanitizer when soap & water is not available

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed

hands

sneeze or use the inside of your elbow

• PMSD’s Plan allows for mostly 1 child (no more than 2) per seat,

conducted using products that meet the CDC requirements for

COVID-19

Student/Staff Illness Protocol

• Morning announcements will include regular reminders on signs &

symptoms of COVID-19 & requirements for visiting the nurse if

symptoms develop

• Students/staff who are sick must stay home

• If any individual exhibits symptoms while in a school building, a

screening will be completed by the school nurse

• Symptomatic individuals will be asked to contact their physicians or

a health care professional for further directions

Nurse:

• Students showing symptoms of COVID-19 will utilize a designated

isolation room until picked up by parent and/or guardian.

Infected (asymptomatic) with COVID-19: Students/staff who have

tested positive for COVID-19, but remain asymptomatic, cannot return

to school until they have been isolated at home until at least 10 days

since the date of their first positive COVID-19 diagnostic test

Close contact with someone infected with COVID-19 (having been

within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes, while not wearing PPE, of

infected individual): Students/staff who have been determined to be a

close contact of someone infected with COVID-19 must quarantine at

home for 14 days AFTER the exposure to the close contact

Household member of someone infected with COVID-19 (residing

in the same home as an infected individual): Students/staff who

have been exposed to a confirmed case, must continue to quarantine

until 14 days after your exposure

o Assist in the identification of close contacts of confirmed

COVID-19 cases

o Obtain the Pa Department of Health’s recommendations for

notifications, exclusions & closures

• Classroom instruction for quarantined/isolated students will move to

• This comprehensive plan allows for 25% of students in schools

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday

• Allows PMSD to follow CDC and DOH recommended distancing

and mask wearing guidelines to reopen schools safely for

students and staff

• PMSD’s plan is a flexible plan where schools and families need to

be prepared to quickly change instructional models if COVID-19

restrictions in place in Monroe County increase or decrease.

• Parents are able to choose from three options for their children:

o Option 1 – Traditional/Hybrid Learning Model

o Option 2 – PMSD E-Learning Classroom

o Option 3 – PMSD Comprehensive K-12 Cyber Program
