Bret Nelson is a Professor of Emergency Medicine, Chief of the Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Division at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Chief Editor of the ultrasound education website, www.SinaiEM.us. He is on the board of directors of the Society for Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships and active in the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP)'s Ultrasound Section and is among the authors of ACEP's Emergency Ultrasound Guidelines.

Authored several books, Manual of Emergency and Critical Care Ultrasound, Emergency Medicine Oral Board Review Illustrated, Atlas of Handheld Ultrasound, and Acute Care Casebook. Dr. Nelson has lectured throughout the world on the use of point-of-care ultrasound to aid medical decision-making and improve patient safety. His research interests include ultrasound and medical education.

Course DescriptionThis course is designed by a multidiscplinary team with a primary audience of RNs, NPs, and PAs who want to gain the skills of utilizing an ultrasound machine to successfully obtain difficult intravenous access on patients who otherwise are considered a "hard stick."

Learn how an ultrasound machine can assist with peripheral intravenous access on patient populations with difficult access. Get hands on experience with actual ultrasound machines and benefit from a 1:4 Instructor to Atendee ratio. Instructors are a mixture of Emergency Department RNs and MDs with a focus in point-of-care ultrasound. Learn and gain confidence in this useful skill and apply it to your practice!
