It was grant-ed spa status after the discovery of mineral waters in the 1960sand owing to favourable climate conditions. Polaczyk is also apopular centre of water sports. There is a well-marked network ofwalking, cycling and horse-riding routes in the neighbourhood. Inwinter, ski-lifts are awaiting visitors. King Jan III Sobieski often hunted here, and,as the legend says, benefited from the healing properties of Ho-rynieckie mineral springs. At the end of the 19th c. a spa was es-tablished here, which was later substantially extended. The localmicroclimate of Horyniec, saturated with ethereal oils, is extremelybeneficial for bahters health.
