HLECC Corner
Our HLECC dads and their kiddos enjoyed an evening together at the annual Dad and Me Pumpkin event.
Snacks, pumpkin carving and painting as well as quality time together was enjoyed by all the family and staff!
Altar Flowers Remember to please submit SPECIAL requests AND payment for Altar flowers at least 2 weeks in advance! The florist needs time to order the flowers you desire. We cannot assure your request can be fulfilled without this required lead time. Thank You.
ALTAR FLOWERS
Today’s altar pieces are given by Steve and Linda Knese.
Lutherans For Life Chapter at Hope is sponsoring a Christmas Activity for My
Life Medical & Resource Center clients, staff and volunteers on December
6th at 6:30 pm. We need donations of winter hats, mittens or gloves sizes
infant to large child and coloring books (preferably Christian nativity
themes) and crayons for the children’s stockings. Donations may be placed
in a marked box in the Friendship room by TODAY, November 18th. If you
would like to volunteer to help please contact Marcie at 636-274-2072.
Trunk or Treat- Thank you! Thank you so much to the entire congregation for their involvement and
support of our annual Trunk or Treat event on October 27th! Whether you set up a trunk, handed out candy, helped with games, donated candy, etc., we
thank you for joining in our important outreach to HLECC and our community. It was a beautiful evening with 18 trunks and 120+ kids/families enjoying the
fellowship, candy, games, snacks and more! We hope each of you (and more) will join us again next year!
Thank You God For... We all have endless reasons to give thanks to God, so it is
good to set aside a day just for Thanksgiving to God the giver of every good gift. On Wednesday evening at 7pm we join for a service of Thanksgiving, and encourage you to join us in offer
thanks to Christ together. Yet whether you are able to join us or not, we would like to share everyone's prayers of thanks. Please
fill out the slip and put it in the basket in the friendship room. Pastor will include all of the thanksgiving prayers during
Wednesday's service.
Sunday, December 2 will mark the beginning of Advent. As we prepare to celebrate the Advent and Christmas seasons, please
consider joining us on Saturday, December 1st at 9:00 AM to help the Altar Guild in decorating our church home for the season. All
members of the congregation are welcome! It is a fun time and we are usually finished by around noon. Doughnuts and candy for all!

Please take some time to review the Bible readings below, they
will be the subject of next week’s sermon.
November 25th-
(OLD TESTAMENT) – Isaiah 51:4-6. The Old Testament
Reading for this Last Sunday in the Church Year
is Isaiah's prophecy regarding the end of this
age. In it the Lord foretells outreach to, and
justice for, all nations – and assures us that
though the creation itself will pass away, his
salvation will endure.
(EPISTLE) – Jude, verses 20-25. This week's Epistle is
supplied by the little Letter of Jude. He wrote
out of concern that false teachers were
leading Christians into libertinism – so his
message is very appropriate for our permissive
society.
(HOLY GOSPEL) – Mark 13:24-37. It is futile and
unproductive for us to try to determine which
day will signal the end of the world. Jesus says
that, while he lived here in humility as a Man,
God's time schedule was not even known by
him. In this Holy Gospel, one word comes
across loud and clear: "Watch!"
Life Thought in the Church Year Fathers consign their children to abortions (Mark 13:12). Children encourage their parents toward
physician-assisted suicide. The latter days have come upon us. Let us hearten each other with the promise of resurrection, even for terminal illnesses, and with the assurance of forgiveness, even for violence against life (Hebrews 10:12). Let us confidently confess this hope
in the face of crisis and panic, for the Holy Spirit Himself speaks new and eternal life in us (Mark
13:11)! We Pray: Heavenly Defender, loose our tongues to
declare Your purposes. Amen.
Help Us Move the Cross Years ago when the congregation purchased the West Property (along Hwy 30), a large stainless steel cross was donated. As we have decided to continue the work of the Church here instead of
moving, there has been a desire to move the cross to this property. Thanks to donations of funds and equipment, we are able to move the cross for less than $1,000 (less than a third of
the total cost!). We are seeking donors who might give $50, $100 or more towards this project. If you are interested, please
just make checks payable to Hope Lutheran , mark your donation "Move the Cross," and place it in the offering plate. If extra funds
are raised, they will be placed in the Memorial Fund for Kids Bibles to help move the message of the cross on to future
generations. Thank you!
Operation Barnabas-Care Packages
Operation Barnabas is sending care packages to our
current Service Members for Thanksgiving. The last
day to turn in donations is TODAY, November 18th.
Items needed are: pringles, beef jerky, hard candy,
powdered drink mixes that go into bottled water,
reading material, cross word puzzles, etc. A grant
has been received to cover the cost of shipping the
packages. For additional ideas please see the list at
the Barnabas board in the Friendship Room. Want
to help? Have Questions? Please contact Linda
Lindahl for more details at 636-376-8786.
Several times each year, we ask the congregation of Hope to purchase extra food
to fill our shopping cart in the mailroom. These items will be used for four families at Hope during Thanksgiving time. Suggestions for items are non-perishable foods, cereal, can
meats, pasta, low calorie foods, soups, crackers, etc. Please place any items you
donate in the shopping cart. Our last collection day for Thanksgiving is
TODAY, November 18th.
Church Security Note: When arriving for a church
activity not on Sunday morning, please be patient if the
leader of your activity has not arrived. In particular, the workers from our cleaning company don't know many
members and so have been instructed not to let
people in. Thank you for your understanding.
Care Packages for College Youth
Please help the Board of Christian
Education send some love to Hope’s 17
college youth. Requests for items are
on a board in the Friendship Room.
Please take a tag or two and return
items by TODAY, Nov. 18. A grant has
been received to cover the cost of
shipping the packages.
Thanks for your support and prayers.
Hope Lutheran is excited to announce that you can now manage your giving online!
Contributions can now be debited automatically from your checking or savings account or processed using your credit or debit card. Our new electronic giving program offers convenience for you and provides much-needed donation consistency for our congregation.
If you are currently giving on a weekly basis, you will no longer need to write out 52 checks a year or prepare 52 envelopes. And, when travel, illness or other circumstances prevent you from attending services, this program will allow your weekly offerings to continue on an uninterrupted basis.
You can also make one-time gifts to special events, programs and other Church funds or activities.
Giving online is easy, safe and secure, plus it allows you to set up automatic recurring contributions and view your complete online giving history from anywhere you have access to the Internet.
Simply follow these easy steps: 1) Visit the church website at hopehighridge.org, 2) Click on the Online Giving tab and follow the link, 3) Click on the Create Profile button, then 4) Follow the onscreen instructions to create an online profile and to schedule your recurring contributions.
