RE: Fire Chiefs Report

SOUTH PIERCE FIRE AND RESCUE

Introduction of Chief Wernet

The District hired two additional Firefighter/Paramedics earlier this year to improve the level

and quality of our services. The two new candidates and one existing Firefighter/EMT is attending the Bates Fire Academy, which started May 6th.

As you are aware that the District Commissioners approved moving forward with the consolidation of all administrative staff in a leased facility in the Town of Eatonville. However, we are in a holding pattern due to the State’s restrictions on new construction projects. Once the State lifts the restrictions, we will move forward with signing the lease agreement and contract for the tenant improvements.

The District has been operating with very old self-contained breathing apparatus and have decided to replace the critically important safety equipment this year. We will be financing the SCBA’s through the State’s “LOCAL” program.
