What is political science?

The branch of knowledge that deals with systems of government; the analysis of political activity and behavior.

Importance of political science

Citizens will be educated about their role in the political affairs of the state particularly in political rights.

Citizens will be more willing to participate in the political activities of the state. This will aid the government in improving the quality of life for its citizens.

Citizens will be able to understand better with the complete study on the branches, forms and systems of government.

executive BRANCH

The executive branch is the administrative arm of government. It is the one with the most employees as it operates, implements and enforces all the laws created by the legislative branch.

The governor and lieutenant governor are elected on the same ticket by popular vote for four-year terms.Head of Government:

Legislative branch

The legislative branch can initiate and rescind laws and is the only authority able to approve proposed laws

The Guam Legislature, is a unicameral body consisting of 15 senators. Senators are elected at-large to serve two-year terms without term limits.The current 31st Guam

Legislature (2011–2012) has a 9-6 Democratic majority led by Speaker Judith T. Won Pat.

Judicial branch

Branch of government that hears and settles legal disputes.
