We chose this topic because we want to know more about man-made fiber and the first word came into our mind is “POLYESTER”. Polyester is a cheap man-made fiber and it can be make into a lot of materials, later we will introduce them one by one to you all. So hope you will know more about Polyester and we will also provide you tips on how to take good care on your polyester items.

•Strong • Crisp, soft hand • Resistant to stretching and shrinkage • Washable or dry-cleanable •Quick drying •wrinkle resistant, excellent pleat retention •Not easy to be worn•Resistant to most chemicals •Stain removal can be a problem •Static and pilling problems

• Usually it can be machine washed and dried.

• Use warm water and add a fabric softener to the final rinse cycle.

• Machine dry at low temperature setting and remove articles as soon as the tumbling cycle is complete.

• Use a moderately warm iron. • Can be dry-cleaned.

A manufactured fiber in which the fiber forming substance is any long chain synthetic polymer composed at least 85% by weight of an ester of a dihydric alcohol and terephthalic acid ". The most widely used polyester fiber is made from the linear polymer poly (ethylene terephtalate), and this polyester class is generally referred to simply as PET. High strength, high modulus, low shrinkage, heat set stability, light fastness and chemical resistance account for the great versatility

of PET.

The raw material for the production of polyester is oil. Polyester is similar to nylon in many respects in that fibers formed from both of them are strong with not

easy to be worn and low moisture absorption. They are also resistant to rot and chemicals and can be set into shapes by the application of heat. Polyester, however,

even with the possible disadvantage of its later commercial development, has become probably the most important man-made fiber. This has happened

because of relatively slightly but important differences in its properties compared with those of other man-

made material, and it is cheaper than nylon!

•You should deal with the stain as soon as possible!•Use a cloth or a towel to gently remove the stain and soak up any liquid. Don't rub! Rubbing can spread the stain and cause it to deepen it into the fabric. •Understand what causes the stain. In order to know what to do for the stain, you need to know what caused it!•Follow the instructions on any presoak, prewash or stain removers. It's best to test a small out of the way area of the fabric first.

•Don't overload the washer!!!!!!!!!

•Make sure the items are equally distributed around the tub of the washer to keep the load balanced during spinning cycles.

•To minimize wrinkling when washing fabrics containing man-made fibers, wash in hot/warm water using a permanent-press cycle or use warm/cool water.

• Important tip - Always check the pockets of all garments before washing and drying. The stains and damage which can result from one hidden lipstick, stick of gum or crayon goes beyond words! Or even money inside!
