Plastics Project10SRENG8501E This course places a particular emphasis on the identification of processing problems and defining variables for troubleshooting. Curriculum Structure

The complete certification program is comprised of 70 hours of instruction with five courses as detailed below.

Introduction to Polymers10SRENG8501AAn overview is provided of basic chemical, physical and thermal properties and applications of polymers, including material identification and polymer nomenclature. Plastics Technology10SRENG8501C The study of plastic materials and processes is covered from a product manufacturing perspective. This course focuses on classifications of thermoplastics, compounding, blending and associated additives. • Live Web-based Instruction: By accessing scheduled live chat sessions via the Internet, the participant is able to interact with both the instructor and other class participants.

• Classroom/Laboratory Sessions: The participant will attend periodic in-person sessions at The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, and the Medina County University Center in Medina, Ohio. These sessions will give the learner face-to-face interaction with the instructor as well as provide key hands-on experiences in a polymer lab.
