In 2010: Special Reviewing Process

• Design flow : from 130 m3/s to 475 m3/s (return period : 3 000 yr)

• The owner wanted to raise the WL back to 21 m

• Enlarging the spillway wasn’t easy

Five design criteria for the discharge safety

• DC #1: Q3 000 under the MWL and Q10 000 under the crest wall

• DC #2: If a flapgate is stuck, then Q1 000 under the MWL

• DC #3: After an accidental flapgate opening, Q < Q20

• DC #4: The lower fusegate should not fuse if Q < Q100
