2015 Miami County Fair Saturday, August 15

Come visit our displays at the fairs!

This year the Champaign County Fair dates are, August 7th – 14th. The Miami County Fair Dates are August 14th – 20th. The fairs support hard working kids who are learning many different skills within the agricultural field, including: raising a variety of different animals, growing crops, arts and crafts, wood working, auto mechanics, leadership

skills, accounting, and most of all, responsibility. 4-H teaches kids what they need in order to be positive members of our community. You can be directly involved with the

future growth of not only the fair itself, but the children who participate with the fair. While you are at the fair supporting the kids, stop by the Poor Farmer’s display and

say hello. We love to see our friends from the campground someplace other than the campground. It is kind of like when you were a kid and saw your teacher at the grocery

store; it was like running into a celebrity. Anyway, come down to the fair, eat some good food, pet some smelly animals, play some fun games, and stop in to see your

favorite campground manager… you know, me. See you at the Fair!

What a great time we had this year at Grandparent’s Weekend! Brandon won the bubble blowing contest, Owen guest how many Skittles® were in the jar, and

Tony was the star of the gun show! All of the kids had a great time and all of the grandparents were officially

worn out by the day’s end.

Rules Reminder OK folks, this section will not turn into a monthly thing. Andrea, Amy, and I spend a lot of time putting together the “Rules & Regulations” for the campground. So I don’t want to spend a lot of time or space for this little rant of mine. As always, there are way too many people speeding through the campground. We stop and yell at those we can, but the majority of complaints we get is for speeding. Please keep your speed down and please ask your guests to do the same… nuff said. Please do not park your vehicles on empty campsites. I need to keep these sites open for when new campers arrive. Trailers are not permitted to be stored on your campsite. Your camping fees only cover your camper to be parked on the site. If you have a trailer that you are storing on your site with your coach, please see the parts store about putting your extra trailer on the storage line. Finally, I would like to remind everyone that selling your RV, truck, motorcycle, or any other misc. items are not permitted to be sold on Poor Farmer’s property unless you speak with Denise or myself about putting them on our sales lot under our consignment program. Anyone found selling their coach on the premises will be asked to leave. That’s all I have for now, please read and follow the rules & regulations so that all may enjoy their camping experience.

Pound Puppies offer a Free Fire Safety Course on Aug. 22

The Coachmen State Rally is once again being hosted by the Largest Coachmen Club in Ohio, The Pound Puppies of Poor Farmer’s. Becky is organizing another fun weekend for you Coachmen owners. She has also set up a fire safety course for everyone whether you have a Coachmen or an S.O.B. (Some Other Brand). Come to think of it, you folks that don’t have a Coachmen are more likely to need this course anyway. So come on out to the Big Shelter on August 22nd @ 9 AM for a very informative period of instruction that may just save your life or the life of someone you love.

Shriner’s Breakfast is going to be a Flipping Good Time!

Once again, our Shriner’s Breakfast will feature the one and only “Chris Cakes”! The Breakfast will be held at the Big Shelter between 8 AM and 10 AM. The cost is $6 per person if signed up before Aug 31st and $7 per person after Aug 31st. All of the proceeds go to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. The Shriners were a large part of Andrea and I’s son, Jaiden. They would pick up Andrea and Jaiden, drive them down to their hospital in Kentucky so that they could make a custom brace for his leg to get him walking straight. They got him walking right, but they couldn’t do anything about his bossyness… darn it.
