To facilitate and participate actively in the creation, use, and maintenance of a network of safe non-motorized trails on Lopez Island to benefit community members of all ages for active transportation, recreation, health, well-
being, and quality of life.
• To develop plans for a system of trails that connect the village, school, public lands, and
other points of interest.
• To work collaboratively with public and private agencies, organizations, landowners and the community at large to develop and
support a trails network.

2016 Schedule
The Lopez Community Trails Network, a trails organization on Lopez Island, is again scheduling a series of hikes open to the public under the title “Go Take a Hike”. Our hike schedule includes a variety of destinations on and off the Island, including both easy beach walks and more strenuous mountain hikes. These monthly hikes are on Saturdays and begin in March with a Lopez sea- shore walk. Hikes are at a leisurely pace encouraging exploration and exper-iencing the wonders of nature. Sign up is by phone or e-mail with the hike leader. Twelve is our usual limit. There is no expense except the sharing of trans-portation costs when we go off island. MARCH 12 - LOPEZ BEACHHIKE & CLEAN UP
This is a one way beach walk from Odlin Park to the access stairs atLopez Village, leaving at 11:30a.m. from the Park. We will shuttlethose finishing at the village back totheir cars. JUNE 18 - Mt. GRANTThis short hike to the top of Mt. Grant, on San Juan Island, is ledby Kirm Taylor and is in conjunc-tion with the San Juan Island Trails Committee. All transpor-tation is furnished from the LopezIsland ferry dock. Details: 468-2474 or [email protected]
JULY 23 - HIDDEN LAKELOOKOUT
AUGUST 13 - SKYLINEDIVIDE (Mt. BAKER)
With good weather you will have a spectacular look at Mt.Baker as you travel the ridge line, thick with meadow grasses and wild flowers. This hike is 6 miles round trip from the car. Contact Tim Clark at 468-2010 or at [email protected]
SEPTEMBER 24 - OYSTER DOME
This hike is an easy 2.25 mile one way hike starting from the Samish Bay Overlook high above Chuckanut Drive in Larrabee St. Park. This fores-ted trail gains about 650 feet of elevation ending at a rock cliff area known as Oyster Dome with a breathtaking view all the way to Vancouver Island. As we come down an optional 15 minute side trip leads us to Lily Lake over a level trail. Contact Bob Walker at 468-3397 or [email protected]

GOTAKE AHIKE!
This 8 mile round trip hike inthe North Cascades gives you anexpansive view of alpine mea-dows and peaks that is an allday event with the ferry and drive time figured in. Check outthe wta.org website for greatphotos and a description.
