    Code of Practice - Managing The Risk Of

    Falls at Workplaces

    Australian Standards AS 1892.3 1996

    The national fall prevention regulations and national Code of Practice for Managing The Risk Of Falls At Workplaces mandate the regular inspection of ladders. The requirements are in tandem with those of the Work Health and Safety Act for Persons Conducting a Business Undertaking (PCBU) and company officers to carry out “due diligence” and ensure workplaces are safe.

    WHS Legislation: Section 7.3 Ladder maintenance ‘Ladders with any of the following faults must be replaced or repaired’

  • Rungs, steps, treads or top plates are missing, worn, damaged or loose

  • Stiles cracked, & or chipped
