Spirits trends 2019Spirits sales continue to grow in the UK and were up 5.3% over the past year to £10.5bn. At the same time, there is strong evidence that consumers are also trading up to higher quality brands and serves, with sales of premium spirits up even more strongly, by 15.8%.

Looking ahead, gin accounts for almost two-thirds of growth in the spirits market and the categorycontinuestogrow, Hi-Spirits is supporting consumers to navigate their way through the gin landscape. Working with the specialists at Gin Foundry, the Hi-Spirits gin range has been carefully segmented, as well as benchmarked against the wider category.

This information has been incorporated into a range of brand support including a gin flavourmapwhichspotlightsthewiderangeofflavoursandvariationsthatdifferentbotanicals bring to gin, as well as tasting maps to enable customers to compare and contrastthoseflavours.

Fresherflavoursareforecastto continue to grow in popularity, andthisisreflectedintherecentlaunch of The King of Soho Variorum Gin, adding a hint of

pink and notes of strawberry to complement the essential juniper and citrusflavoursof the classic recipe.

Beyond gin, the portfolio reflectsthepopularity of other

growth categories within the spirits market. The UK’s love affairwithAmericanwhiskeyisset to continue, with bourbon appreciated for its mixability, as

the basis of popular cocktails such as the mint julep, old fashioned and whiskey sour. BuffaloTraceandEagleRareareauthentic Kentucky bourbons that deliver credibility without taking themselves too seriously.

One reason for this is that American whiskey is seen as more accessible by younger consumers coming into the market as they reach adulthood, who increasingly enjoy cocktails as part of their social life both at home and when eating out.

Southern Comfort is also proudly celebrating its place at the heart of the American whiskey story. In 1874, New Orleans bartender M.W. Heron infused the local whiskey – which was often of variable quality – with his own blend of fruit, vanilla and spices. Additions such as Southern Comfort Black and Southern Comfort 100 Proof have a strong appeal to those lookingforaboldwhiskeyprofile,whether they enjoy it straight, on the rocks, or in whiskey cocktails and mixed drinks.

With premium tequila in strong growth in the UK, the addition of the four-strong line-up of Corazón Single Estate Tequilas to the Hi-Spirits portfolio also strengthens the range. Produced by the award-winning Casa San Matias Distillery for Sazerac, Corazón Tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave, using the traditional production process including cooking in stone ovens.

Authenticity is also at the heart of Italian classics such as Fernet-Branca, invented in Milan in 1845 by Bernardino Branca, and its stablemate vermouths Carpano Antica Formula and Carpano Punt e Mes, as well as the originalespressocoffeeliqueurCaffèBorghetti.

This sweet, full bodied whiskey has been described by some as "nectar."

Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 15yr

The whiskey in this bottle was produced according to an exclusive family wheated recipe and was specially selected from barrels in the heart of the Pappy warehouses in Kentucky.

It's remained undisturbed for 15 years to age in deep-charred heavy oak.


Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve is aged an unheard of 20 years, and bottled at 90.4 proof, the result is this wonderfully smooth and rich whiskey.

No other bourbon today can stand 20 years of aging, but this bourbon does it with style.


Only the most careful and expensive distilling method can be used to create a whiskey as special as this one.

These barrels were carefully selected from the heart of the warehouse after twenty three years of aging. This signature whiskey is best enjoyed neat.

E.H. Taylor, Jr.Colonel E.H. Taylor is known as one of the founding fathers of the bourbon Industry, a true bourbon aristocrat who was responsible for linking the classic and modern eras of bourbon making.

ThiswhiskeypaystributetothemanwhopurchasedwhatisnowtheBuffaloTrace distillery back in 1870. His dedication to distilling helped develop inno-vative techniques, that are still used today, including the climate controlled warehouses.

Single BarrelThis single barrel bourbon whiskey is aged exclusively in warehouse C; built by Taylor back in 1881. It’s a true sipping bourbon.

First invented in 1786, in Turin by Antonio Benedetto Carpano, its inimitable recipe remains unchanged to this day.

Made from white wine, Piedmontese muscatel and the rich wines of southern Italy. Its taste comes from carefully selected, brewed mountain herbs although its most prominent feature is its vanilla bouquet, matched by notes of spices and dried fruit such as star anise, orange peel and dates.

One of the worlds most popular red vermouths. A combination of dry white wine flavoured with aromatic herbs and spices.

The story dates back to an 1870 stockbroker, caught up in a debate with a few colleagues at Bottega Carpano, ordered a vermouth laced with half a dose of Quina Liqueur using a Piedmont dialect expression: “Punt e Mes” (roughly translatable as “one and a half”).

The bartenders hand shake, Fernet Branca, is an all-natural, aromatic bitter made with over 27 herbs, spices and roots from four continents.

Born in 1845, Fernet-Branca, is a secret formula passed down from generation to generation. Today, the only custodian of the Fernet-Branca formula is the president, Niccolo Branca, who personally measures out the aromatics during the production process.

Fernet-Branca is aged for at least one year in oak barrels and has a light brown colour with amber hues.

Xocolatl Mole Dark, earthy chocolate notes paired with cinnamon and other warm spices. Centenario, Duo of Old Colheita Tawny Ports A duo of aged Colheita Tawny Ports from 1870 and 1970 created in collaboration with the Van Zellers one of the oldest Port families in the Douro. These two Tawny Ports were produced from the same vineyards, but 100 years apart - they are respectively 48 and 148 years old. The 1870 Port is pre-phylloxera. 770 sets were produced.

Tasting notes 1870: Beautifully balanced, this is a complex Tawny Port whose age has not diminishedjusthowdeliciousittastes.Itoffersgorgeous mulberry, clove, eau de vie and Chinese five-spicenotesthroughoutitsharmoniousandpoisedfinish.

1968 Glenrothes Single Malt Scotch WhiskyTwo Single Casks from one of the most acclaimed Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distilleries in Speyside. Only 309 bottles were produced between the two casks.

Tasting notes: Mellow aroma which is at once fruity and herbal with a trace of cigar boxes and a hint of candlewax. A lovely sweetness on the palate with some saltiness and peppery spice in thelongwarmingandslightlymentholicfinish.
