Gladio is a 50 ft Fast Cruiser sailboat designe to have long cruises and to be performance in regattas. It takes inspiration by the striped swordsh and it is designed to cruise in the Mediterranean sea. The ipotical client request was a 15m sailboat that is comfortable for 7 people onboard for a minimum period of 2 weeks. The boat must be easy to sail and fast. He also likes new technology to reduce energy consumption.

The prole is slow on the water with a sheerline that falls gradually down from the bow to the stern. The hull design is modern, with a atter bottom, in order to have more form stability expecially during downwind.

The hull is also charatterized by new design elements. The most innovative is the double glazed window for the guest rooms, usually an element used on bigger boat. The choice to have two big “windows” in the back helps to have a bigger hull stiness and less weight. Another choice is to have no air conditioning inside but the air changing is provided by natural ventilation.

The deckhouse is another characteristic element. It is designed to be as lower as possible in orther to disappear on the deck. To make it possible it is tought to be covered by black glass panels. This element i salso able to select the light in the living thanks to electrochromic glass on the top. The deckhouse is not only a design object but it is also a functional. In the side are hidden easy sailing accessories, light and natural ventilation pipes.

The lower deck has a classic plan buti t has been revisited with new materials. Eg. the use of jeans fabric for the cuscions of bleached larch for the forniture.

The exterior, actually hull lines, is inspired by German Frers’s classic design while the interiors are a tribute to Olin Stephens’s internal disposition.

The result is an experiment to put elements, usually used on bigger boats, on a 15m sailboat trying to have clean and pure hull lines underlined by the use of classic color tones.

Isurus is a 24m fast Motor Yacht. It is designed for a special client: Bruce Wayne. He is a rich and solitary man who loves design and technology. He is usual to have fast machines. He never leaves his manier without his faithfull butler, Alfred.

The hull lines are inspired by Mako, the fastest shark in nature. The choice to get inspiration by this sh came to the necessity to design a hull and the upper structures, deckhouse and rollbars icluded, coherent with the main ideas of speed and power.

Another idea, born during the sketch section, is to have a reverse stern never seen on yacht of this lenght. All in the exterior lines follow the same direction, and the cuts are repeted to exalt the inspiration.

The hull is designed to be fast and agile during naviga-tion. The hull is tought to be built with composite materials, actually high modulus prepreg carbon ber, in order to reduce weight and improve performance.

The internal structures are designed to be structural, all the tanks included. Two MTU V10 engines combined to Arneson surface propellers are the right choice to meet the design target.

The boat has many dierent new elements. The rst one is a platform in the rearward that help the guests to get in and out from the sea. It has also four sunbath beds that are able to get into the water.

The second elementi s a hidden jacuzzi in the frontward. It has the particularity to be emptied and closed during the navigation in order to have the baricenter as lower as possible. When the boat is anchored it is possible to ll it quicky and with warm water if necessary.

The maindeck is characterized by simmetrical elements. The living has two big C sofas where is possible to get relax and watch out. Frontward there is a modular table that can be opened is necessary.

The lower deck is designed to be used only by mr. Wayne and Alfred. It is divided in a big master cabin, with changing room and bathroom, in the frontward and a big living with an horizontal library, Alfred’s cabin and the kitchen in the backward.

The result is a modern fast yacht usefull to spend weekends at the sea or to have an aperitif in Cannes and the dinner in Monaco.
