SPATIAL DESIGN

After my first year of foundation I did my internship at

Future Research Design Company, Bangalore, for a period

of eight weeks.

I worked on the Samsung Retail Stores project and did the

site visits and the recce drawings and the civil docket

using AutoCAD.

I chose to do this internship soon after first year because I

realized that Interior Designing was one thing I wanted to

major in and Retail Design was a stepping stone.

I worked on more than twenty sites in South India under

the guidance of the team leader.

LIVING SPACES – THIRD

SEMESTER PROJECT

Design for disabled was our third semester

project wherein we started off with the research

of the disability assigned to each student and

then made the following-

• Adjacency matrix

• Bubble diagram

• Movement chart

• Zoning

• Concept board

Page 5: Portfolio 2014

We were given a site to measure in Foot and Inches and then made a

site analysis report. After that we used AutoCAD to make:

• Existing plan

• Room plan

• Furniture plan (nine iterations)

• Section A

• Section B

• Lighting plan

• Reflected ceiling plan

• Electrical plan

Manual rendering was

done to the

Layouts to understand

the materials we

wanted to use for the

flooring and the

furniture and why.

The sections were

rendered to

understand the layout

in a different

perspective.

Frame work

Inspiration- painting by Razza

Page 11: Portfolio 2014

The paper and wool

combination worked out

the best for me since I did

not want to make regular

mats using coconut leaf

sticks.

My Inspiration was taken

from belts, bag and T-

shirts that have magazine

prints on them. They are

usually in pink, baby pink,

grey, beige and other such

lighter tones.

It was a simple process of

using alternating frame

numbers. First 1 and 3

frames were put down and

the in the next row 2 and 4

and so on.

ECO FRIENDLY PRODUCTS

FIRST SEMESTER

Wind energy harnessed by a

vehicle to charge its battery

-Harness the energy generated

when the bus was in motion.

-Free wheel suspended by the

spring and the weight would

make it rotate which in turn

would cause the generator to

produce electricity (attached to

the free wheel with a chain).

-Battery attached to store the

electricity produced.

eg- used is a suitcase when its

been carried

TRAVEL AND LEARNING

SATHNUR VILLAGE – FOURTH SEMESTER

On reaching there we saw ladies working on the looms with banana fiber, making Sathnur the

only place in the south of India to work with them.

It was really surprising to know that they did winding/twisting for 14p/m. not even for a rupee.

I almost felt like their labour and skill is being manipulated by the industry.
