In this section is shown the visualization work related to architecture exteriors and environements. Through my experimentations I have used two different softwares for modeling, starting with cinema4d and then switching to 3ds max.

EXTERIORS - ENVIRONEMENTS

This is one of my very first modeling and rendering works, inspired by the Hotel Well by MVA architecture, located in the thermal complex ‘terme tuhelj’ in Croatia. I was drawn to the straight lines that build up the facade and the sense of movement that they create. In my visualization I tried to enhance this pattern with sharp shadows and the strong contrasts between the materials of the facade envelope marking the theme of duality (light / heavy) and choosing complementary colors.

This picture is one of the first realized with 3ds max in con-junction with v-ray. The idea was to experiment exterior lighting, for this I’ve used and HDRi to lighten the scene. The lake surface is a simple plane with a water material and a displacement map applied. The natural environement was created scattering the vegetation with forest pack.

THE ISLAND3ds max

This work was inspired by the Nerman Museums of Art sited in Overland park, a college campus suburb in Kan-sas designed by Kyu Sung Woo Architects in 2007. I found it interesting for ist simple volumes and austerity. I tried to convey this caractheristcs in my visualization keeping the environement and the materials as simple as possi-ble and experimenting some lighting theories and tricks.

In this work my focus was on the use of perspective and lighting to convey depth. I’ve applied the rule of thirds to compose the image, placing the glass corner on the first third and shfting the lenses of the v-ray camera to align the horizontal low third with the horizon line.

In this excercise I modeled and scattered raindrops on the glass surface to connect the wet floor with the others elements of the image.

FULL IRISH3ds max

This work was inspired by the fascination about the mood of the modern built environement from the Republic of Ireland and from the visual strenght of this house sited in Randalstown, County Antrim, by Alan Jones Architects.

MODERNISM?3ds max

felixphotoshop

This picture was inspired by the work of Todd Saunders, who’s architecture relates explicitly to landscape, illustrating a contemporary uncertainty about the validity of Modernism’s victory over nature.

This work was inspired by the Summer House with Studio in Vejby by Henning Larsen. The whole building was modeled in every detail, including the structural elements. The vegetation was added in felix. I would like to clarify that I never try to do exactly the same building in the 3D version, I just use it as a starting reference point.

SOMMERHAUScinema4d

In this outdoor space I’ve tried to make some experiments trying to render natural elements, like the stones, the water and the ground using only textures.

OUTDOOR SPACEcinema 4d

In this section is shown a series of images of inte-rior spaces. The focus is on lighting and texturing. In most cases I’ve realized all the maps from a sim-ple image, in some cases the materials are realized from scratch starting from pictures taken by myself. Some of these pictures are part of personal design projects.

In this scene I tried to convey an atmosphere of calm and concentration. When I was thinking about my approach for this interior, the target I set to myself was a retro style that I tried to achieve through the use of worn materials and natural lighting.

This was my first attempt at using Marvelous Designer, a 3d design tool that caught my attention for the natural approach to creating fabric-related items.

INTERIOR BLENDINGcinema 4dphotoshop

The main goal of this picture was to show a unique atmosphere, different moods and the feeling of living an indoor space blending with the outdoor in harmony.

CERAMICScinema 4d

maxwell render

I’ve tried to set up a simple scene inside of Cinema 4d to start using Maxwell Render. Scene objects were modeled in a rush inside of Cinema 4d just to have something of mine to display (I was inspired by some catalogue found on-line). The purpose of this exercise was to test lighting and materials inside of Maxwell.
