The project improves the usability of the square through the creation of areas and routes for pedestrian use only, the preser-vation of parking spaces and the reorga-nization of the traffic flow. Also the new spaces defined by the project, are desig-ned to allow the conduct of special events taking place there (weekly market, palio, white night..).Our choices were inspired by three lan-dscape features clearly distinguishable in the territory: The total absence of natural level differen-ces, generates the choice of “flush” pede-strian areas. The occurrence of rows of trees along the streams, inspired the preservation of

existing trees and the extension of planta-tions on Via XX Settembre. The characteristic agricultural divisions from the Roman Era, cross and intersect to create the ground pattern. The pedestrian area of the square, hosts three elements that play a functional role and at the same time characterize the spa-ce. The lighting system made by 9 meters high design lamps, supports the shading system made of 6 rewindable Dacron she-ets. Finally, a dynamic fountain flush with the flooring, refering to the presence of ‘water in the territory, completes the pat-tern of the pavement and helps to cool the environment in summer.

The proposal strengthens the direction perpendicular to the SP 11, which sepa-rates the ancient core of the Roman Ca-strum from the churchyard. The transversality enhances the perspecti-ve cone and creates a continuous space that goes beyond the obstacle of the car-riageway.The roadway is moved north to widen the sidewalk on the south side of the square. The center of the square is divided into three main areas, taking advantage of the existing difference in height. 1_the churchyard2_the raised stage3_the audience/multifunctional area. This space is in direct communication with

the municipal auditorium, so it becomes its outdoor extension. It can thus host mu-sical or theatrical performances. The lateral areas are lowered by 50 cm compared to to the road surface and are thought to carry out recreational activities open to citizenship, offering a more shelte-red environment from the noise and sight of traffic. The project provides the removal of exi-sting turfy flowerbeds, expensive to main-tain. The green system will be realized with the inclusion of resistant trees. and tanks from 60 to 80 cm in width planted with existing and new rustic shrubs.

2013MARAZZI MAIN OFFICE BUILDING RESTYLING_SASSUOLO (MO)Marazzi Group_w/Uainot

The Marazzi Group operative office buil-ding, located near the main showroom, is characterized by its facade decomposi-tion. The project hides the boring series of win-dows with a chessboard-like cover made of ceramic and glass. The cover acts as a ventilated facade and shading system, allows the insulation of walls and the pass of all technical pipes. The new facade encloses the entrance space, creating also a pleasant and quiet courtyard, framing a transition between the busy and trucks crowded internal ro-ads and the offices entry. The project includes also the complete sur-gery of the building, a preliminary design

of the reception area and of the internal courts and a study for the heating and electical systems upgrade with an estima-te of the costs.

2013MARAZZI MAIN SR BUILDING RESTYLING_SASSUOLO (MO)Marazzi Group_w/Uainot

In the Marazzi Group Headquarters in Sas-suolo (MO) is located a building used spe-cifically to house the collections Marazzi. The restyling project aims to give an ima-ge of Marazzi Group:in line with the new brand ID.The main showroom takes inspiration by one the most succesful Marazzi’s product: Soho.Using tarps linked to a punctually fixed steel structure, the main showroom buil-ding will be covered with white and light shards. This shards are not only a cover for the old building, but also a precious way to communicate the company because: they can be printed with ADVs and enlighted

during the night trasforming the building in a urban lantern.

2012_CONTESTEXPO 2015 SERVICE ARCHITECTURES_MILANOw/Uainot

The concept of the project is strongly lin-ked to the idea of “recognition at low cost,” architecture achievable with very low CO2 emissions, climatically performing, compa-tible with the environment, linked to the region but also reversible.Thousands of cubic meters all over the EXPO site will be: excavated, moved, ac-cumulated, stored, retrieved and redistri-buted. These conditions make the earth a perfect raw material. In addition to the easy avai-lability, raw earth has many advantages, it is in fact easily shaped, excellent shield against summer solar radiation, known and used by people around the world.Earth used as the outer skin of the buil-

dings allow uniformity of design langua-ge, therefore high recognizability.

2012COUNTRY HOUSE RESTORATION_Loc.Balza di Lupo_NOTOw/Uainot

The restoration follows the prescriprions of architectural conservation: the project retains the original structure and materials of the building. The decorative elements are limited to the doors and windows frames, made of the local stone (pietra di Modica) and to the corten steel grates, as the only contempo-rary touch. The outer stone walls are whitewashed and the roof is traditionally made of wood beams and recovered pantiles. The historic edifice includes the kitchen, the living room, a storege room, a double bedroom and a bathroom. An external staircase gives access to a terrace. The expansion, realized with dry construc-

tion techniques but with the same finishes as the historic building, houses an additio-nal bedroom, a bathroom and a study. The upgrading of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and other code-required work to make the property fun-ctional is limited and sensitive

2011TWO FAMILY HOUSE_via Castello_SASSO MARCONI (BO)w/Uainot

The project comprises a series of technical drawings made for the presentation to the municipality. It is a two-family house located in the old town in a densely built context. Hence the need for a compact volume with a controlled height so as to comply with planning standards. The project reinterprets some of the featu-res found in nearby buildings. The offset of the two living units allows to create covered entrances. The internal staircase is connecting all le-vels from the underground cellar to the terrace. The pitched roof is south facing so it is possible to install efficient solar panels. A front wall hides the roof behind and ma-

kes the volume of the building clean and compact. Overhanging balconies with exterior wood shading systems decorate the cor-ners of the house. The external wall are insulated with a 20 cm thick layer of wood fiber and finished with a layer of thermic-plaster. Due to the inability to realize a descent ramp, the par-king problem is fixed with automatic car lifts.

2011MASTERPLAN_BOTTICINO SERA (BS)_w/Abnorma Architecture

During the collaboration with Abnorma Architecture, I realised slideshows, bro-chures, documents and drawings for dif-ferent projects.Expecially I had the possibilitY of designing the masterplan for a new intervention in Botticino (BS).The site strictly communicates with the main square and the church, from wich is separated by a significant height differen-ce. The terraced layout takes advantage of this particular topography: the different buildings compenetrates generating a mi-xture of private and public spaces. The briefing comprehends different fun-ctions: a supermarket, medical facilities, a nursery and social housing with the re-

spective parking areas. The middle space, conceived as a “stramp”, guarantees pedestrian access to all bu-ildings, connecting the different levels. The roof of the supermarket expands the square outside the church, while above the underground parking another square is craeted.become puplic squares and pri-vate terraces and gardens

2010_CONTESTNEW SCHOOL AND AUDITORIUM IN BERLINGO (BS)Politecnico di Milano_Master graduation Thesis_w/Prof.Arch.U.C:Demichelis

The project aims to generate a coherent expansion of the existing school campus in Berlingo, a small town near Brescia. The dual nature of this intervention, from one side a place for learning (school) and from the other a space for events (auditorium), led to a project layout focused mainly on public spaces and relations. The project area has been re-thought as a permeable space, a gate towards countryside. The two buildings enclose the collective space, creating a central square and a semi-priva-te school yard. The vision of an open air school mixes with the vision of a commu-nity school. The design takes into account the different aspects of a sustainable plan-ning, also in an educational perspective.

The buildings embrace bioclimatic princi-ples, solar technology, rain water reuse, in order to achieve the energetic autonomy. Above the classrooms, a green roof provi-des thermic benefits and gives the chance to create a bothanic pathway on the roof top. The buildings use a dry contruction technique, that allows prefabrication, re-sources optimisation and guarantees a faster and cheaper realization .

2010NEW GALLIERA HOSPITAL_GENOVAE.O.Ospedali Galliera_w/OBR_Open Building Research

My Intership at OBR_Open Building Re-search in Genova, started on March 29th and ended on Juny 20th, 2010.

Mainly I was involved in the Prelimina-ry Design of the new Galiera Hospital in Genova. Our team, lead by Arch.Paolo Brescia, worked in partnership with Albert de Pineda (Pinearq) for the architectural development, with Steam and D’Apollo-nia for the structural layout. and with Arup London for the facades development.I drawn 1:100 scale sections, elevations and 1:20 external set up details. I gave my collaboration in workshops and brain stor-ming and in rendering,From this experience I learned working

in an international team, dealing with a strict work shedule and facing problems quckly. I especially used AutoCAD LT 2009 for the design development. I deepened the knowledge of this program with the use of external references, blocks and design center, and some more print functions.

2009OLD PEOPLE RECREATION CENTER_MILANOPolitecnico di Milano_Executive design lab_w/Prof. Arch. U.C.Demichelis

The building, located in via Giacosa, lies on the border limit of Trotter park, an ex-Hip-podrome (12.000 sqm), that now hosts a school in its buildings. It is open to the pu-blic only at specific times and days.Along via Giacosa and next to the project building there is a small public garden equipped with two grounds for the “boc-ce” play. This space has been a project starting point, leading to a new organiza-tion of the park limits in order to enlarge public green spaces. The building plays a central role in the development of this new public system, because it becomes a social attraction point and the hinge of the new paths and accesses to the park. The aim of the project is to create a recreation

center for old people that, in the same time helps interaction between people of different ages. This goal is reached thanks to a plurality of functions and a flexible use of spaces. The existing building is divided into two public levels with services and a roof terra-ce level. Because of the different functions, entrances and times of use of each level, the vertical connections are located out-side the building in a new construction. that stands along the east side of the hi-storic one. The two constructions interact in order to achieve the energetic sustaina-bility of the system. Basement plan

2009CONTEMPORARY THEATER_MILANOPolitecnico di Milano_Design lab_w/Prof. Arch. P.Salvadeo

The contemporary theater, located in the historic part of Milan, in largo Cusani, be-comes not only a place for representation but also a space where reality is put into scene, where fiction and real life alternate each other along its internal and external ways. The space grows vertically, from the un-derground to the sky and vice versa. The systems of public space-reality and theater-fiction, interlock each other and interact in a unique building. In the middle of the project stands the tall glazed volume, as urban landmark and pivot, that guarante-es and manages the vertical connections through elevators. The internal ways and ramps of the building rotate all around it,

connecting the two main theater rooms. The public spaces articulate in various le-vels at different quotes, creating aerial and underground locations equipped with services. The pre-existing crossroad is modified in order to help the traffic bustle flow down. Three stairs penetrate into the ground, creating physic and perceptive continuity between ground and underground level. The accesses at the theater are located at both two quotes and a gallery connects the metro-station Cairoli with the new, un-derground square.

The project involves the displacement of the bedrooms upstairs in order to create at this level a huge living area comprising kitchen, living/dining room, media room, a study and a bathroom. The lounge opens onto a large terrace, it is a fresh and inviting space with lots of natural light., perfect for hosting guests or living day-to-day. The excellent quality fur-nitures by Minotti create an environment of unique and elegant design. In addition an environment dedicated to the reading is enclosed between the electric fireplace camouflaged in the pillar and the library. This element is specifically designed to separate the living room and the media room., serving as a wall. It is made of fine

solid wood and lacquered in white only in the internal parts.A huge LCD screen, speakers throughout the space, soundproof wall panels and cozy seats make the media room a com-fortable and high tech place for a family that loves to entertain.

The project articulates on two different flats in the same building. On request of the client we created a con-nection staircase between the two apart-ments. The stairs are placed in a box that can be closed, so that the flats are commu-nicating but indipendent. Then we proceeded with the redesign of the family apartment: moving and re-design the kitchen, widening the living/dining room and completely renovating the bathrooms. The design keeps the existing furniture and integrates it with some new finishes and accessories.Subsequently we studied the layout of the daughter’s apartment, designing the living

area, the kitchen and a pianting studio and choiosing the furniture in agreement with the client. The project has been followed in all stages: from the architectural survey, to the neces-sary bureaucracy (SCIA) and the contruc-tion management for the realization.

2012BED & BREAKFAST LAYOUT_via Tommaso Fazello_NOTOw/Uainot

The layout project for a bed and breakfast aims to optimize the available space on the ground floor by placing more room as possible , each with a private bathroom. In total we have obtained six rooms equip-ped with a queen size bed, bedside tables, and wardrobe. The rooms play off a white backdrop against textures, recycled timbers: the wood of the floor rises on the wall of the bed headboard creating a cozy atmos-phere, the other walls are white and soft grey accessories such as lamps complete the environment. The bathrooms are separeted from the sle-eping area by a translucent glass wall.Easy to clean, large-scale porcelain tile wal-

ls, along with the pebble shower floor and glass mosaic tiles, add to the ambiance of privacy and luxury. The project of the terrace includes the exi-sting volume equipped with kitchen facili-ties and expanded with a pergola closable on three sides and an outdoor space with wooden floor and big benches with the function of sun terrace.

The SR of GAluminium, is located in the of-fice building of the company, both indoor and outdoor for a total of 500 sqm.We get the inspiration of the concept de-sign from the aluminium production pro-cess.Like an unrolled alluminium coil, an alumi-nium tape runns through the floors and walls of the showroom, becoming an exposition surface, a showcase, a bench. The path create a loop, connecting the different exhibition areas: company profile and history, materials properties, produc-tion information, products dysplay, lounge and working areas. In the entrance a world map made of alu-

On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2013, Marazzi opened a new showroom in Milan: a space of about 400 sqm in the heart of the design district of the cityThe space is composed of areas on mul-tiple levels dedicated both to end custo-mers and to professionals with innovative solutions for design proposed by Marazzi Engineering (floors raised and ventilated facades) and Marazzi Tecnica (systems of materials, colors, sizes and surfaces). Parti-cular areas are dedicated also to Progetto Triennale, the new edition of the “4 times curve” tile designed by Gio Ponti, to the new proposals of super thin tiles and to the Marazzi bathroom world, with display solutions that allow the user to enter and

experience the space. The SR showcases the latest collections Marazzi: Treverkho-me, Treverkatelier, and the new surfaces and large-format tiles of Officina 7, Si-stemN, Brooklyn. We dealt with all the fases of the project, from the architectural survey to the mounting.

The central dome on the south hall, repre-sents the main entrance of the exhibition: a place of 700 m2, completely dedicated to the collections of outdoor furniture and to the sails of nautical inspiration. We imagined a fairy-tale setting where the proposals of the Corradi world were represented between the earth and the sky, in a reinterpretation of magical flying carpets that enclose both dreams and concreteness.Emotions and pragmatism describe very well the approach Corradi, which has a very strong design oriented attitude to-wards the outdoor space. Corradi presents atmospheres, not products, spaces which stimulate suggestions, projects where the

outdoor is meant to be fully lived in every season, unique solutions, as unique are the people and their lives.

October 2012MADE EXPO_MILANOMarazzi Group_w/Uainot

Marazzi participates for the third year to the fifth edition of MADE, the internatio-nal fair of construction and architecture which takes place in Milan. In an exhibition space conceived and organized for architects and design pro-fessionals, Marazzi presents its innovative and environment-friendly products deve-lopped thanks to constant technological, aesthetics and functional research. The new products presented this year are SistemV, the system of glass mosaics in 3 different sizes with a color palette in line with the Marazzi Colour Plan and Blue Spa.ce a new range of special pieces for swimming pools. The layout concept is “the pallet:” the por-

table platform used for storing or moving groups of tiles. So the entire exposition area is warped by a white plastic sheet, the interiors have a cardboard like finish and the wellcome desk and tables are made of pallers,

In the new exibition space Marazzi, get presented the new brand image. The expo is divided in three different are-as: the biggest one is dedicated to Marazzi products with the claim “ a story along the stand”.The white color and large wall graphics, become an hit to bring out at its best the ceramic products and the related commu-nication. An elegant, cozy, contemporary space made up by exposition rooms sur-rounding a central square, that presents Marazzi story and hosts working areas. The other part is dedicated to Ragno pro-ducts, the Marazzi Group ceramic home collection. The concept is a succession of powder rooms where ceramic products

completely cover the walls, recreating a real setting. In this way the visitors have the impression of beeing inside thir own bathroom. The third and smaller part is dedicated to Marazzi Tecnica products, technologic ceramics for courtain walls, swimming po-ols and contruction systems. In this area is also located a bar with an entire wall de-dicated to the projection.of the buildings “dressed” by Marazzi.

The customer’s request ‘was to create a lightweight structure for a reception room that would protect the operator from air currents and generate a positive first im-pression in the guests.Since the company Cedic is involved in producing plastic material for medical sup-plies, we focused on a solution that would communicate cleanliness and functionali-ty. Both structure and shelves were made in plaster and finished in white HPL lamina-te and in brushed stainless finish for the base, The use of plasterboard allowed to adjust the slope of the floor and has facilitated the electrical wiring.

On the worktop has been laid a thick re-trolacquered glass in shades of light blue, The interior ceiling in translucent plexi-glass, filters out the LED light evenly, de-materialising the cover completely,

2012SR TENDE TENDENZE_ANCONACorradi Group_w/Uainot

The design of the showroom and sto-re Corradi “Tende e tendenze” in Pesaro includes an indoor area and an outdoor area.The project requires a thorough knowled-ge of company products, and a serious competitor analysis, in order to create a unique style for the brand. In accordance with the corporate claim, the showroom has been designed as a succession of different outdoor environ-ments, that in a functional and efficient way, become at the same time exhibition spaces and lounges accessible for custo-mer relations. The different floor types make pathways recognizable from rest and expo areas;

synthetic grass, gravel and woodchip, used also in interior spaces, create a visual continuity between in & outdoor spaces as if it were a single garden. Materials and colors combine to create a modern and informal style, which puts the customer at ease and facilitates contacts.
