Hi! I am Francesca Ugolini and I am 25 years old. I currently live in Lodi and I have a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Landscape architecture. I have always found it comfortable and enjoyable to be in contact with nature and the ground; this situation is linked to the profession of landscape architect that I am seeking.

Theprojectconcernsawideandheterogeneousareaofabout30ha,unitedbyacommondenominator:theEntellacreek,wichrunsthroughitforoneKm.Theprojectmaintainstheidentityoftheplacebypreservingtheagriculturaluseofthesoilandconvertingpartoftheprivatevegetablegardensintomorestructuredones,suchaspublicvegetablegardens,educationalvegetablegardensandvegetablegardensfordisabledpeople;theprojectalsovaluestheagriculturallandscapebypromotingtheproductionofqualitycropswithinthePark’slimitswithabrandwhichtypicallyidentifiestheplace,suchasCavolobroccoloLavagninoorOlivaLavagnina,andthedevelopmentofthetouristicvalueoftheareabyprovidingareasforfunrecreationalactivities,liketheChiavariandLavagnabicyclepathalongtheEntella,andtheinsertionofdocksandbirdwatchingpoints,forabetterinteractionwiththeEntella.TheplanometricdrawingoftheParkoriginatesfromahypotheticalstonewhich,fallingintothecreekwater,createssomeconcentriccirclesthatdefinepaths;theircircularityisaccentuatedbythepresenceoforangenetsusedforshakingolivesdown.

2. Paesaggi culturaliRequalification of degraded areas in Certosa, Val Polcevera (GE)

TheprojectMasterplanofrequalificationandenhancementofgreenareasinCertosa(GE)isbasedontheconceptof‘mixité’,thatisthecombinationofmultiplecommercial,employment,infrastructural,residentialandenvironmentalactivities,distinguishedbyaleadingrole.Originalproposalsthereforeoriginate,concerningnewlydevelopedsocialcenters,newspacesforcreativity,inordertodealwithissuesofsocialexclusion,andforsolidaritypurchasinggroup;itispossibletoimprovethequalityoflifebyincreasingthepropertyvalueandpromotingabandonedorunderusedareasofthetown.Thestrengthoftheproposaldoesnotrelyontheindividualaspectsbutontheirsynergicdevelopment.

Itisadisusedrailwayarea;theprojectmaintainsarailwaylineforfreighttransport,whiletherestoftherailwayareawillholdanurbanparkwithinnovativefeatures.SustainablehousingunitsarecreatedintheSoutheastarea,andvegetablegardensinboxesareplacedintheoverlookingarea.TherestoftherailwayareaholdstheParkwithitsmanyactivitiessuchasarailwayparkwhichwillpopularizetheevolutionofItalianrailways,andaplantnurseryspecializinginthesaleofwildspeciesorspeciestypicallygrowingbyrailways,whichareplantedinthegreenareasoftheparktoo.Thewholeareaiscrossedbypartofabicyclepath.

Newgreenareasarerealized,usingtheabandonedandresidualareasinthedistrict,toimprovethequalityoflifeofRivaroloresidents;anexampleistherequalificationofPalliSquarewheretheexistingparkinglotisplacedunderground,inordertousetheroof,onwhichahanginggardenwillberealized.

Itisthemostinterestingculturalpointandhistoricalcentreofthedistrict;witharequalificationplan,theinterventionconcernsboththestructure–renovatingandrestructuringtheminorcloister–andthegreenareas.Intheminorcloisteranaestheticgardenandastructuredfunrecreationalareaareplanned,thelatterreplacingthecrumblingexistingplayground;inthisareausefulelementsareinsertedfororganizingMedieval-themedgames.ThemajorcloisterisinsteadplannedasahistoricaltestimonyofthevegetablegardenoftheCarthusianMonasterythat,intheMiddleAges,wasacollectionofaromaticherbs,medicinalherbs,vegetablesandfruitspecies.

3. Trasporto Dolce SaronnoProject about a Greenway in Saronno (VA)

TheprojectconcernsthewholeLombardmunicipality;startingfromtheideaofplanningagreenwayonthedisusedrailwayline,theattemptwasmadetorealizeanetworkofbicyclepathstoconnectthemostsignificantareasofSaronno.Alongthetownstreetssomebicyclepathsarecreated,whichcrosstheoldtown,theMonasteryareaandthenewgreenspaces,reachinguptotheLuraPark,northwards,andtotheGroanePark,southwards.Theprojectalsoreconsidersthegreensystemtroughttheintegration,intothenetworkofbikepaths,ofalreadyexistingandnewlycreatedgreenareas;withthehelpofexistingtree-linedavenuesandofthosewhichwillberealized,greencorridorsthatcrossthemunicipalityarecreated,connectingthepublicparks.Thegreenwaywillbedividedintotwosections:thefirstonewillbecharaterizedbyheterogeneousaccessibility,wherecyclistandpedestriansaren'tseparatedbyphysicalbarriers;thesecondsectionwillbecharacterizedbyseparatepathsdedicatedtodifferenttypesofusers.Thelogobywhichthisgreenwaywillbeidentifiedwasthendesigned,tobeaffixedoninformativeleaflets,furnitureandsignage.Ahypothesisconcerningwheretoplacethesignageinthemunicipalitywasthenoutlined.

4. Il Crocevia Noli, rete di paesaggiRequalification of the landscape for sustainable tourism in Noli

TheprojectconcernstherealizationofasystemwhichimprovessustainableturisminthevillageofNoli(SV).TourismhasalmostexclusivelydevelopedalongthecoastwhileitisalmostcompletelyabsentinNoli’sbackcountry,specificallyinthehamletsofTosseandVoze,thatriskbeingdeserted.Viablealternativestoseatourismarestudiedaccordingtothecharacteristicsoftheplace;forexampleanalternativetoseatourismcouldbesportstourismwhichrequiresanimprovementoftheexistingtrailnetworkthroughitsmaintenanceandtheplacementofsignage.Thistrailcanbeusedfortrekking,cyclingorclimbing;anothersolutioncanbethedevelopmentofwineandfoodtourism,thankstoacollaborationwithlocalfarmsandasponsorshipoftheirproducts;thedevelopmentofculturaltourism,thankstothepresenceoftheAltopianodelleManiekarsticarea,whichallows,withpropersignage,tocarryoutspeleologyactivities.TheaimistofocustheattentiononthehamletofVoze,whichoverlooksthecoastalvillageofNoli,renovatingtheneverusedbuildingforfishprocessing;thisbuildingwillbeconvertedintoaninformationandequipmentrentalpoint.Fromhereitwillbepossibletovisitthewholesurroundingarea.Thisplaceis,asamatteroffact,called“Noli’sCrossroads”.

5. Parco archeologico di SiracusaDevelopment of the system of Dionysian’s walls in Siracusa

TheprojectideaisbasedontheconnectionofnumerousarchaeologicalsitesinSyracusethroughtherealizationofalarge-scaleopenairmuseumwherethevisitexperiencebecomesaninteractiveone.Thelinksbetweenthesepointsofinterestarerepresentedbythreepaths:apedestrianpath,abicyclepathandthepaththroughtheruins.Thefirstpathconsistsofaringwhichdevelopsaroundtown,uptotheCastleofEuryalus;onthispath,structuresthatrecallthewatchtowers-oncepositionedalongthewalls-arelocated,inwhichtheinformationpanelswillbeplaced.Thebicyclepath,whichrunsalongtheDionysianwalls,willhavesomesectionsformountainbikersonly.Theinformationpanels,thatarelocatedhere,haveaQRCodewhichallowstoreceiveinformationalsoonhistoricalfigureswholivedinSyracuse.ThelastpathislinkedtothetragediesofSyracuseandtheplaceinwhichtheywerestaged.TheuseofQRCodeallowstoseeholographicclipsoftragediesonsmartphonesandtablets.

6. Giardino privatoRealization of a private garden in Cassano d’Adda (MI)

Thisprojectconcernstheplanningandtherealizationofa40squaremetergardenonthegroundfloorofathree-floorbuilding.Thegreenarea,thatappearedwildandnotexploited,isenhancedasanareaforlunch,becauseoftheadjacencytothediningroom,forrelaxandchildren’splay.First,thelawniscreated;then,inaccordancewiththeclient’sdesireandthesmallsizeofthegarden,avegetablegardeninboxesisrealizedbyrecoveringwoodencontainersofwinebottles.Theentrancebrickwallisusedtohangpotscontainingaromaticspecies.Thegardenwillbecompletedwithashieldofbamboo,plantedonbothsidesofthegarden,insideplanters.Somefurniturewillalsobeaddedinthegarden,suchasatablewithchairs,ahammock,asofarealizedwithapalletandabirdhousethatthechildrenaskedfor.

7. RGB Recycling Garden Building Installation with recycled elements for the SuperElevata contest in Genova

Inthisprojecttheconceptofrecyclingismergedwiththatofgreen.Theinstallation,designedandcreatedonaplectrum,theshapebeingdecidedinaccordancewiththecompetitionrules,wasdesignedlikeaprototypeofasmallgreenspacewhichcouldcorrespondtoaterraceorasmallgardeninGenoa.Theideaistoprovidepossiblesuggestionsforthosewhowishtoplantheirsmallgreenareas.Thethemeofrecycling,thetopicofthiscompetition,isdealtwiththroughtheexclusiveuseofrecycledmaterialstocreateplanters,pots,candleholders,vegetablegardensandfurniture.Alsotheplantspeciesarewildspeciesorspeciesderivingbywasteproductsofplantnurseries.

8. Villa Premoli eventi bucolici Requalification of the Villa Premoli’s complex in Massalengo (LO)

Theprojectrecoversanddedicatestopublicusethepreciousandwideopenspacesoftheeighteenth-century“CascinaGrande”andofthenineteenth-centuryVillaPremoliComplex,currentlyabandonedandindecay,tocreateameetingandaggregationplace,anactivelaboratoryofculture,alandmarkinthecommonsearchforsocialwelfareandqualityoflife.Thecomplexcoversanareaof2.5hectares;theabandonedagriculturalholdingisrecoveredandwithinitaB&B,arestaurantandateachingfarmarecreated.VillaPremoli,renovatedandrestored,willbecometheculturalcornerstoneofthewholecomplexwithtrainingactivitiesforcompanies,temporaryexhibitionsandculturalevents,withthepossibleinclusionofthetownhistoricalarchive.Thenineteenth-centuryhistoricalgarden,whichspreadsaroundVillaPremoli,willberestored.Thegreenhousewillberecoveredforactivitiesandgardeningclasses.Thestablewillberestoredtocreateasmallridingschoolfothippotherapyactivities.
