Produce and Products

The kitchen utilises left over produce that would otherwise be discarded to create soups, smoothies and other wholesome healthy meals, displaying recipe and produce information to encourage experimentation and creativity.

At the core of the Gastromarket is a kitchen and cookery school that places the kitchen at the very heart of the market experience, and encourages customers to slow down, to make considered choices and to be inspired by their surroundings.

More than half of household waste can be recyled.

Not only is left over produce used to create meals in the kitchen but the kitchen is designed to filter water to be used to water the herb gardens that are in the space. Bio waste is put into the inbuilt composter which can be turned into compost and given to the farmers to help grow their produce.

The name GastroMarket combines Gastronomy (the study of food and culture) and the traditional food market. The term Gastro is intended to replace the word Super that now typically comes in front of the word market thanks to the bigger chain stores people have come accustom to shopping in through convenience.

The kitchen includes an inbuilt composter which ensures bio waste can be recycled and an inbuilt water filter allows for water to be reused to water the herb gardens. The herbs will be used by the chefs to flavour their food.
