The following descriptions will give you an idea of what to expect when you encounter a road project. The amount of

delay and congestion depends on overall traffic volume, time of day, and the size and type of the project.

Resurfacing/Paving/Overlay — Adding pavement over existing road or structure. You will likely encounter lane closures and a lower speed limit.

Chip seal — A method of resurfacing that places gravel over the roadway to work into the pavement.

Bridge work — Bridges may be built alongside existing bridges with little in the way of traffic delays. Some bridge work may require lane closures or traffic detours.

Details for specific projects listed on this map are included on the inside of this brochure. Projects are listed by highway type and route number, then sorted by milepost. Information is subject to change.

Pay complete attention to your driving, especially in the transition zone before the work area. Inattentive driving is the most common cause of work zone crashes.

Orange is your clue! Pay attention when you see orange signs, barrels, cones and barricades. Obey all speed signs, because speed maybe reduced for your safety and thesafety of workers.

Double your following distance. Don’ttailgate.

Get in the correct lane well in advance.

Remember, work zone traffic lanesoften are narrow, without shoulders oremergency lanes.

When possible, move over to give workersmore room between them and your vehicle.

15. OR 99E (McLoughlin Boulevard) — Add new lighting and updated fixtures in the OR 99E/McLoughlin Boulevard tunnel in Oregon City. Install a variable message sign south of the tunnel to alert northbound drivers of traffic conditions, MP 12.6. Nighttime single-lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic, some daytime single-lane closures and 20-minute full closures at night as needed. Expect delays. Pedestrian and bicycle access maintained. Completion: Summer 2019.

16. OR 99W (Barbur Boulevard) — Improve safety and access to transit with wheelchair accessible curb ramps, sidewalk repairs, a bus pad, and crossing improvements at the intersections of SW Barbur Boulevard and SW Lane Street and SW 53rd Avenue in Portland, MP 297 - 299. Temporary lane closures and traffic controlled by flaggers. Completion: Summer 2019.

Improve safety and access to transit on Pacific Highway West at SW Commercial Street, SW Bull Mountain Road, and SW Naeve Street to SW Beef Bend Road in Tigard just southwest of the OR 99W/OR 217 interchange, MP 9 - 11. INTERSTATE 40510. Interstate 405 (Stadium Freeway)

— Repair and replace freeway joints on the elevated sections of I-405 on either side of the Fremont Bridge and at U.S. 26, MP 3 - 4. Approximately 25 weekend closures of on- and off-ramps. Nighttime single and double lane closures, nighttime and weekend closures of ramps, weekend daytime lane closures, and full 24/7 closure of U.S. 30 east to I-405 south (11 days) and U.S. 30 east to I-405 north (18 days). Significant traffic delays and congestion are expected. Completion: Fall 2020.

U.S. HIGHWAYS12. U.S. 26 (Powell Boulevard) — Make

improvements to Outer Powell Boulevard from SE 122nd Avenue to SE 136th Avenue. Install sidewalks, crosswalk improvements, new curb separated bike lanes, center turn lanes, and storm drains. Two-way traffic maintained on Powell Boulevard, some intermittent nighttime lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic. Both directions to have a marked pedestrian path and striped bike lane. Traffic to be shifted to the north side of Powell Boulevard through spring and summer as construction begins on the south side. Completion: Fall 2020.

OREGON HIGHWAYS13. OR 8 (Tualatin Valley Highway) —

Improve pedestrian safety along OR 8 from SE 44th to SE 45th avenues in Hillsboro, including a new flashing beacon and advanced warning signs, improved lighting, and wheelchair accessible curb ramps, MP 10. Lane closures and intermittent crosswalk closures with pedestrian and bicycle detour signs or flaggers. Detours

INTERSTATE 2058. Interstate 205 (East Portland Freeway)

— The second year of the Glenn Jackson Bridge to Johnson Creek project will construct two auxiliary lanes and pave a section of northbound I-205, MP 26 - 25. Periodic lane, full directional and ramp closures. From 10 p.m. Aug. 2 until 5 a.m. Aug. 5, I-205 north will be closed from Foster Road to I-84. Two-week closure of northbound Killingsworth Street off-ramp. Periodic

5. Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) — Paint and repair steel on Vets Bridge in Roseburg, MP 124.5. Intermittent pedestrian delays on walkway under bridge deck. Completion: 9/2019.

6. Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) — Improve pedestrian access and upgrade wheelchair accessible curb ramps at three major interchanges in Salem: Mission Street (OR 22), Market Street (OR 213), and Portland Road (OR 99E), between MP 253.9 –258.6. Single lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers. Delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: 6/2019.

7. Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) — Raise bridge end panels to improve ride conditions on four bridges in Salem on I-5 from State Street to Silverton Road overcrossings, MP 254.7 - 257.5. Nighttime closures, lane restrictions and detours weeknights during construction. Expect some delays. Completion: 9/2019.

8. Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) — Pave the road surface between Woodburn and Salem. Other work includes bridge deck resurfacing, upgrades to guardrail and pavement marking, MP 259.1 - 271.6. INTERSTATE 8410. Interstate 84 (Columbia River Highway) — Replace bridge

guardrails, strengthen bridge deck overhangs and install protective screening on eight bridges on Interstate 84. Upgrade roadside barriers and guardrail end treatments, MP 64.6 - 151. 5. Temporary lane closures or restrictions on bridges where railing is being replaced. Traffic controlled by flaggers or detoured around the construction. Completion: Summer 2019.

14. Interstate 84 (Old Oregon Trail Highway) — Grind concrete travel lanes between Poverty Flats and Meacham to create smoother, safer travel surface, MP 225.8 - 238. Reduced speeds, lane closures, minor delays. Completion: 10/2019.

15. Interstate 84 (Old Oregon Trail Highway) — Improve safety and pavement between La Grande and Ladd Canyon; add a third truck lane for eastbound Ladd Canyon traffic; repave 10 miles of slow lanes in each direction; upgrade culverts to improve fish passage, MP 260 - 273. Lane closures, reduced speeds, nighttime paving, minor delays. Detours for bicyclists and pedestrians around Ladd Canyon work. Completion: 11/2020.

16. Interstate 84 (Old Oregon Trail Highway) — Repair pavement in both directions between Plano Road and Huntington, MP 325 - 344. Reduced speeds, lane closures, minor delays. Completion: 11/2019.

17. Interstate 84 (Old Oregon Trail Highway) — Pave and repair eastbound and westbound Snake River bridges at Idaho/Oregon border east of Ontario, MP 378. Reduced speeds, lane closures, minor delays. Oversized truck detour around bridge work on U.S. 95/U.S. 30. Completion: 11/2020.

INTERSTATE 10518. Interstate 105 (Eugene-Springfield Highway) — Pave, repair

20. U.S. 20 (Central Oregon Highway) — Chip seal both eastbound and westbound lanes through Vale, MP 245.7 - 247. Lane closures, reduced speeds, day and nighttime flaggers, pilot cars, loose rock on the roadway, delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: 10/2019.

21. U.S. 26 (John Day Highway) — Repave the Warm Springs grade, MP 99 - 103; scale and excavate rockfall hazard areas from Kahneeta Junction to MP 99. Possible delays of up to 20 minutes. Completion: Fall 2019.

22. U.S. 30 (Lower Columbia River Highway) — Replace multiple bridges at the Astoria Waterfront between 6th Street and 11th Street, and make stormwater drainage improvements at the intersection of U.S. 30 and 30th Street. Day and night single lane closures on weekdays. Completion: 4/2020.

Single lanes of traffic controlled by temporary signals at bridge replacement sites. Completion: Summer 2019.

25. U.S. 97 — Repair and replace pavement from Shaniko to Trout Creek Bridge, replace several culverts, and modify guardrail, MP 56.7 - 74.9. Delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: Summer 2019.

26. U.S. 97 — Extend a passing lane and build a wildlife undercrossing, MP 180 - 182, 203 - 204, and 211 - 212. Delays up to 20 minutes. Completion: Fall 2020.

27. U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway) — Replace the entire lighting system including the lights, wiring, support systems and anchors in the Arch Cape Tunnel, five miles south of Cannon Beach. No complete tunnel closures during construction. One lane will remain open with flaggers controlling two-way traffic. Work will be weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at night between 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. No weekend closures. Expect delays. Completion: Summer 2019.

33. U.S. 101/OR 126 (Oregon Coast Highway/Florence-Eugene Highway) — Improve streetscape, including paving, bike lanes, and wheelchair accessible ramps in Florence around the junction, U.S. 101 MP 190.2 - 190.8; OR 126, MP .0 - 0.2. Traffic reduced to one lane. Slow traffic. Completion: 10/2019.


34. U.S. U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway) — Replace traffic signals, install pedestrian crossing signal and center turn lane in south Reedsport, MP 212 - 213. Lane closures, possible minor delays. Completion: 9/2019.

35. U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway) — Paint steel truss section of McCullough Bridge, MP 233 - 234. Intermittent nighttime lane closures. Completion: 10/2021.

Single lane closures with two-way traffic controlled by flaggers. Delays up to 20 minutes. Complete closure in May with detour. 42. OR 22 (Three Rivers Highway) — Replace culvert with a bridge near Dolph, MP 11.3. Complete closure for up to six weekends, 24-hour flagging. Completion: 10/2019.

43. OR 34 (Corvallis-Lebanon Highway) — Pave highway and install rumble strips west of Lebanon, between Seven Mile Lane and Sunset Drive, MP 15.4 - 16.8. Day and night work, 24-hour work zone speed restrictions. Single lane closures with flaggers. Up to 20 minute delays. Completion: 6/2019.
